Guzman y Gomez - Heatherbrae — Restaurant in Newcastle-Maitland

It’s been a long time since I experienced racism as bad as I did today at Guzman Gomez in heatherbrae. I am of Indian descent, It’s the first time that I visited and ordered at Guzmangomez so I wasn’t sure if the process, the lady that was less than impressed to take my order expected me to know what I wanted and took the order reluctantly. She didn’t even finish serving me before she started laughing and happily served the white lady that was behind me with her kids. My husband joined me a while later and we were waiting patiently for our order when we noticed that our order no was skipped so we went to ask about it. The very unhelpful staff said that they think that our order was taken by another customer cause they don’t check the ticket numbers or the ticket was misplaced. They remade the order, just put whatever they wanted to in the burrito bowel and shoved it at my husband that was crazy upset by now. No apology for making us wait or the service, just handed the bag for us to leave. I will never go back to haetherbrae. My husband and I felt deflated and upset for a long while afterward, I hope that the staff here could be sent for some sort of education that people of colour as with everyone else are no different and that everyone should be treated equally and with respect. Ordered a med bowl today. Waited for a solid 15/20mins in drive thru to receive my meal. First they forgot the drink and when I drove off realised no cutlery either. I opened my meal and it was literally thrown in there. The meal had either been dropped or whoever made it just doesn’t give a care in the world. I took the meal back into store and complained and ask for a new one that was not just thrown together or dropped. The young kid took it to the boy who was making the meals and explained the situation, he starting reluctantly making me a new meal and I could clearly hear him telling his colleagues “I need to make this look a like a happy meal”, an absolute smart Alec!!! As the kid that served me was throwing out my original meal he was picking at it and eating it with his bare hands. This store is an absolute disgrace and who ever owns this store needs to pull some of those staff in line! When someone spends nearly $30 on meal you would expect it too look half decent not like someone vomited into a takeaway container, and then when you politely complain you shouldn’t be met with a bunch of smart Alec teenagers. First of all, my friend wanted to get a frozen marg and the staff said she couldn’t unless the rest of our table was Id’d ?? None of us wanted one and we’re sat away while she was ordering and because we were sat down she couldn’t get our attention to come and show ID therefore she was refused service. Second of all, the food was disgusting. Nachos had at least 4 spoonfuls of guacamole and barely any pork when paying for extra pork. Chips were not seasoned. Chicken tenders were soggy. Pork was also FAT. Third of all, it took 25 minutes for us to get our food when there was barely anyone else in the store ? Fourth of all, one of our friends ordered a burrito and was very persistent about having NO BEANS on the burrito as he is ALLERGIC. They continued to put beans on the burrito and he had to find out the hard way. When asking for a replacement they gave him chicken instead of beef. None of these people seem to know what they’re doing. And some of us had to raise our voice to get workers attention as they were too busy talking amongst eachother about eating...
