I've driven past here a thousand times thinking this place looks like the kind of club you can definitely judge based on appearances.
I mean, besides a swamp, maccas, train line, and a servo, this is all of what Hexham has to offer. An insect infested club who's mascot is a giant mozzie (of course).
The eftpos was down, and as I got to the ATM a creepy female staff member came to kindly let me know the machine 'might' be out of cash. It was. She was never seen again.
The place smelt like cheap toilet cleaner, and the food is sort of like a poorly funded nursing home's attempt at chinese food.
Do yourself a favour and make your own chicken cashew nut by combining some frozen woolies brand veggies, rubbery chicken, and watery soy sauce, to save yourself the 18 bucks. Which is about the same amount of change I was given in $1 coins after paying for my order with my partner's money (cheers for that).
For some reason half the lights were turned off suddenly at 6:30pm. And the ground sort of 'jiggled' as a coal train went by, which definitely inspired my confidence in the knuckle dragging gravel munchers that built the place...
But I must admit, the band was good. Shazza and Bazza featuring the drum machine did a solid version of...

Our family absolutely loves going to Hexham Bowling Club for dinner—it’s become a regular go-to spot for us! The Chinese food here is consistently delicious, and the generous serving sizes make it great value.
The satay chicken is hands down the best I’ve ever had, especially with the unique addition of pineapple pieces—it adds a sweet twist that works beautifully with the rich satay sauce. The Mongolian beef is another standout, with a bold, flavour-packed punch that really pops in your mouth.
The kids always go for the honey chicken, which never disappoints—crispy, sweet, and satisfying every time. I also really enjoy the honey chilli king prawns; they’re full of flavour, although this time they were served with the tails on. It wasn’t a big deal, but something to note if you’re not keen on the idea of prawn shells.
If you're after something with a kick, the Szechuan beef is spicy and absolutely delicious—it leaves your lips tingling in the best way. And of course, the fried rice is always a winner—perfect as a side or even on its own.
Highly recommend Hexham Bowling Club for anyone craving quality Chinese food in a relaxed, family-friendly setting. We’ll...
Read moreWhat’s happened Normally the food is good here, but last night it was the worst I’ve had. First the chicken and corn soup has shrunk only a small tub and to concentrated so very salty. Dim sims had no flavour maybe a bit of salt from the soup may have helped. Seafood combination was heavy with too much corn flour and don’t put deep fried fish in a stir fry it comes out stodgy and very gross probably explains the thickness of sauce. Chicken and beef dish’s were very lean on both of those ingredients. Maybe they have a new chef, sorry cook, hopefully he doesn’t work most days. Also you can’t increase prices and reduce quantity one or the other, no...
