Have been here a number of times and the tea is real tea not teabags so they were already off to a good start. My sister came down from Brisbane and we went for a Saturday drive so stopped off and had soup (very tasty and good sized portion) and then my son came up from Melbourne so I picked him up at Castlemaine and we stopped off at Dig for afternoon tea. The bathrooms are spotlessly clean and the cafe has a very nice tranquil atmosphere. Was interesting to see the lovely artwork on display by a local artist which also was for sale. Didn't know about the lamb shanks so will definitely have to try that next time. Unfortunately they are only open one night for dinner, can't remember if it is Friday or Saturday. Anyway, it was well worth the short drive from Bendigo.

This cafe is a highlight of the area. It stands out amongst most others. Good friendly service and great food in a really nice, quiet little town. Ralph the dog was an absolute treat, such a pleasant and friendly little doggo who loves a little bit of attention but is not annoying in the slightest. I wanted to take him home, I miss him already.

Fairly good long black ~ krema was thin & yellow possibly indicating the extraction was less than complete. Professional, but not friendly service. Comfortable wooden chairs inside with outdoor seating for those inclined. Background music at a reasonable volume, ala country. Pleasant ambience, ok for reading or laptop if you get a signal.

Great place for a quiet coffee and scone. They also have a very lovely menu and also do a breakfast menu. I personally love the scones but they also do delicious toasted sandwiches or you can have Turkish bread foccasias. If there was a star rating for 10 out of 10 that is what I would give them. The staff are very friendly and also if you are a regular they don't forget your face. Great place for a quick catch up and coffee...

We travel quite frequently to Newstead, just to go for a drive and also to go to dig. The food is always top quality with a good selection... the service is always excellent and the coffee is great. Add a delightful old building in amongst the other scenic one on the main street , and it all adds up to a place well worth a visit. Of extra note is their selection of local wines , own made chai tea and art exhibitions...
