Winning some first prizes at 2017's Canberra show for their pies, as well as consistently winning awards in past years, you know these pies are going to be well worth your stop. Conveniently located not too far away from the start of the descent to Brown Mountain if you're travelling down to the Sapphire Coast, it's a great stop for a breather, a stretch, a coffee and a feed. They sell family sized meat and fruit pies, so you can even have dinner sorted or grab a fruit pie for eating brunches, or afternoon teas, or desserts while you stay at the Sapphire Coast. They also sell an assortment of other things which are great souvenirs, my favourite are the novelty jams, small portions, but 5 for $10. Flavours include Summer Harvest, Five Berry and Pineapple among others.

Our car broke down in Nimmitabel on our way to Victoria. And we needed to stay overnight for the car to get fixed. The motel checkout time is at 10AM, and the car will be fixed until late afternoon. Fortunately, Nimmitabel was so generous enough to let us stay for longer hours. We thank you for letting us stay for longer hours as we were waiting for our car to get fixed. Your coffees are 5 stars as well.

This place is a gem. The cafe is clean, fully appointed, chock a block full of pastries and savouries for the visitor and local - and boosting a couple of special extras. Next door is a park to sit and relax in the shadow of an amazing elephant statue and indoors are high quality artwork from the high countries. Not to be missed.

Although I live near Jindabyne and I can go to their bakery outlet in town, I still like to go out for a country drive to Nimmitabel, and here at the original bakery, for a lunch or a treat (either in-store, or if I take my dog I just walk up from the nearby local park which is a nice spot). The sausage rolls currently rule supreme, though I like a panini too lately. My oat and honey slice was nice - chewy on the bottom like a good ANZAC biscuit and crumbly-oaty-honey-y on top - but I’ve never gone wrong with their other treats either. Nimmitabel is a small, quiet town though this place is always popular. It was nice to sit chatting at a seat in the front window looking out at the street, warmed inside while warming my insides. If you’re relatively local, or local enough for a drive, I recommend the outing (the scenery is a favourite, between Dalgety or Cooma and Nimmitabel) and if you’re passing through you’d be mad not to stop. I have a soy latte when I’m out, and at some places it’s not optimally made, but it was very good here and my partner gave his dairy milk one the thumbs up too - he had the sausage roll… I really have to get into one again. Next time I’ll have to actually grab a loaf...

We enjoyed lovely pies and coffee's then order deserts. My Mums custard tart, didn't seem right very waters and had an odd taste to it. My Mum quietly let a staff member know and was asked to pick something else or they could organise a refund. While looking at the other items a second person went to serve her. This person was dismissive of what Mum tried to tell her and took another tart from the tray that looked to be from a different batch to test. She walked off leaving my mum very upset. As I was leaving I heard the staff talking and asked what had happened because my mum had left in tears. The staff member did attempt to go after her. However, she was very abrupt and bordering on rude. We said not to worry and we left. We have been visiting this bakery for over 40 years with different owners over the years and tell everyone that it's a great stop. We will be going to the Cafe across the road from now on. Disappointing as Mum was giving feedback and not expecting anything in return, she definitely did not ask to be made to feel stupid and insulted, resulting...

This was our stopover... but not anymore, we usually stop in the mornings on our way to the coast, we recently ordered the sausage rolls and were very disappointed, they were huge and looked delicious but were very dry and tasted like cardboard and sawdust. We tried there again last Thursday but found the quality of the food still very ORDINARY. After returning the cinnamon scrolls because they were inedible, very stale, hard and crunchy, we tried the muffins, these tasted like they had been frozen and hence lacked any real taste, still cold. As for the cleanliness of the bakery, we had a lovely table by the widow, but had to share it with at least 50 dead blowflies on the windowsill, the toilet could definitely do with a clean also and some soap in the empty dispenser and some paper towel. The coffee and hot chocolate did taste lovely. We do usually try to support the small businesses on our travels but feel they also...
