Read moreUnpleasant experiences with erratic owners who verbally abuse customers have unfortunately occurred on multiple occasions during our visits. The hostile atmosphere consistently left us feeling uneasy. On top of that, the delivery time for our food consistently exceeded an hour.
The last time we were there, we ordered a veggie dish, and what we got was nothing like what the menu described. It was just a sad tasteless mix of veggies and tofu drowned in oil.
Trying to sort things out was a total hassle. We wanted to swap the dish, but they were giving us a hard time. Eventually, they threw in some carrots and recooked the dish acting as if it was a gesture of goodwill, but it was still the same bland of tasteless tofu and oil-soaked vegetables. The male owner who is the cook as well came to our table admitting that if you recook the food it would not taste good. We ended up returning the dish without wanting to order anything else because everything just takes forever with them.
Upon settling the bill, we discovered they intended to charge us half the price of the uneaten dish, claiming that we had consumed 4 pieces of tofu which was ridiculous but also weren't true. As we refused to pay for this dish, both owners, a man, and a woman flipped out on us and unleashed a barrage of curses and screams. Their insistence that we were the first customers to ever return a dish in their 20 years of business seemed dubious at best.
We left with them still yelling at us, and they made sure to tell us never to come back. Total nightmare. Definitely crossing this place off our...
Read moreAuthentic Vietnamese meals. We loved it!!! Truely made us feel like we were back in Vietnam, if only for a few hours.
Enter the premises through a pair of marble lions and walk a short vine covered path under many giant gourd's and pass by a large marble statue of a Vietnamese (perhaps Buddhist) women, said to be 'she who hears all cries' before you reach the restaurant door. We chose to sit outdoors were there is a large undercover seating area surrounded by gardens and fish ponds. The lighting and sound of running water were very relaxing.
We enjoyed number 11 Vietnamese salad, number 114 spring rolls, number 66 chicken and number 73 seafood combination. All were delicious and contained fresh food from the couples own market garden, located on the premises.
Tinh's service was extremely friendly and very prompt. He kept our meals and drinks coming at an expert pace, allowing us enough time to enjoy the atmosphere but not so much time as to be left wanting.
The coffee is authentic Vietnamese coffee made with condensed milk and a percolater. A must try for any coffee lovers.
Located approximately 15kms South of Alice CBD, the restaurant is not hard to find at night as it is very well signposted from the highway and only two turns to make.
Tinh was very knowledgeable about the plants grown on site and we hope to be able to grow some of the things ourselves with the help of some seeds purchased from...
