We went for lunch and dinner over our stay. For lunch it was disappointing to spend $19 on a bowl of wedges with a side sauce of "surf n turf" where the sauce itself was in a tiny bowl, I will say the sauce was delicious but for +$9 the size was pretty bad, it didn't go far at all and wouldn't have on a steak or schnitty either. They also didnt deliver the sourcream/ sweet chilli so we had nothing after that for dipping so abandoned it. Peers ordered mostly burgers and kids meals, all average. The night we had dinner some people rider schnittys, I ordered oysters, there was also orders of kid meals and flat head. The flat head wasnt impressive to the consumer. The schnittys were okay. The oysters I dont believe were fresh, I ordered natural and they werent stuck to the shells, they were lukewarm which I found a bit odd and they didn't have great taste whatsoever, big let down with how pricey oysters are everywhere.
The location itself is wonderful with great views, the toilets were relatively clean on both visits, the kids area was a bonus and in the 48hours we had between both visits the dead flies everywhere had been removed, (this is just common everywhere around the area but it was reassuring to see them on top of it). They have a nice front lawn area for kids to play if they're above the kids room, they also had skill testers (out of order during our stay but there nontheless!), an 8 ball table and a "50c bingo card" game, pretty sure they also had a dart board. It created a nice atmosphere with something for everyone. They had some flexible seating options which was a perk and whether it was covid inflicted I'm not sure but I'm always appreciative of accesible layouts, the layout allowed people to walk through with ease, including if someone were to be wheelchair bound, the toilet might have a bit of a corner to it but their access toilet was quite user friendly and also provided a change table which was handy having a young one with me. The staff were hit and miss like everywhere, I feel it's a normal part. Their specials board is pretty decent in...
Read moreStopped by the tavern yesterday to purchase 2 takeaway bottles of alcohol, there is an outdoor drive through which was not open. We had to step inside and order at the bar by the door. We had just come straight off the beach (shocker since the tavern is right on the water) so we’re wearing our bathers. We politely asked if they had what we were after, Tammy who was front of house then proceeded to look my friend and I up and down with repulsiveness and state “while you’re dressed like that? Nothing”. Before walking away. We were quite taken back with how rude this was but apologised and went and grabbed a towel to wrap around us. I went back in and was refused service, Tammy blatantly acted like I didn’t exist and told me she would not serve me. I again apologised as we live by the beach in Adelaide and regularly head straight from to outside dinner and walking around in a bather top has never been an issue in my life. We are literally in 2025 and woman wear bras as tops yet I can’t wear bathers AT THE BEACH??
Another lady went to serve me and Tammy told her no, she then relayed to me she could not. I politely asked why and apologised again for not having known the “standard” of conduct Tammy continued to state applied. Could not give me a reason as to why I’m being refused service other than “Tammy said I can’t”.
My family have lived in the Yorke for 30 years, are well established members of the community and never once have we recieved such disgusting service. I can understand if we had been rude or disorderly but the situation was far from this. The Yorke has always been such a communal friendly and welcoming place so it was quite bizarre to be treated this way.
Front of house staff should be able to speak to customers with some kind of decency, it’s concerning this is the personality and actions of someone representing your business in FOH. Maybe back of house could be better suited.. customers service with no people skills is bizzare. You’ve lost yourself a handful of customers that have dined and lived...
Read moreWe booked a table for 6:30pm, ordered around 7:00pm, at 8:00pm we still hadn’t received our meals, we sat and watched as the kitchen staff packed up and cleaned the kitchen. When we enquired where our meals were, it appeared our order hadn’t been printed out. We were told they would cook them ASAP so we asked for them to be made takeaway as we had 2 very hungry, tired & grumpy children. The fryers had obviously been turned off for a while as the kids fish came out soaking in oil, certainly was not eatable in the slightest. The Parma had obviously been thrown in with the fish as it had a taste of fish to it. And the chips were still hard in the middle. Was the worst pub meal we’ve ever had. We were offered a pathetic refund of $12. We spent $200 there that day (bottle shop & meals) $12 was not a good enough. I have since spoken to the manager who offered a full refund but am still waiting for it. It has been 6 weeks and I never received a refund. Owner never replied to my last email. Very...
