First and last time trying this restaurant and if I could give it 0 stars I would.I made a booking for the Mother’s Day ‘Banquet’ lunch by phone. Minutes later I was prompted by email to pay in advance in which I did. Then I received another email stating to be there no later than 15 minutes after our booking time or my table will be surrendered to someone else without refund. A bit strange I thought as I have never seen this process before in any other restaurant I’ve dined at (paying for food well in advance of our actual lunch date).Arrived on time and ordered drinks. Entree came out and we were surprised not to be offered a choice of the 2 dishes but were given one of each and same with the main course ( even being a set menu customers should be given the option to choose between the dishes on offer after all why should you pay top dollar for a second choice). Entree was tiny being 2 super small serves of chicken and 4 under sized prawns to share between 2 people. Then we were told to keep our dirty entree plates as fresh plates won’t be offered for the main course. One hour later our mains came out and surprise surprise 2 tiny serves of salmon and a tiny scotch fillet to be shared between 2 with a salad thrown in. 15 minutes later some chips arrived but we had already eaten the mains ! Not even an offer how we would like the steak cooked. Being a winery we were offered drinks on arrival but that was it. Why the staff didn’t try and promote their own wine is mind boggling indeed. Our glasses sat empty for well over an hour after finishing our first drinks without a refill offered. Bitterly disappointed in our dining experience leaving still hungry after paying top dollar...

Read moreOn two previous occasions whilst we had some issues with the service the food at your restaurant had shone. This time I’m afraid neither lived up to expectations. The service had improved but I continue to puzzle over the role of some of the staff. There appeared to be two Maitre des though neither approached our table both engaged in frequent discourse with the other two tables that were occupied. When my friend’s natural oysters arrived without lemon her request for same took longer to be fulfilled than it took for the others at our table to eat their entrees. When from a very limited menu the one beef dish was unavailable, even though it was the first day of trading for the week we were very disappointed. This turned to annoyance when I suggested the steak tartar dish, one I had enjoyed previously, though not on the menu may be a substitute. I was informed that this was only available as part of the set menu. No crab was detected in the crab soufflé, and whilst the fish of the day was enjoyable scales were discovered and the promised “liver shavings” were hardly discernible. Onto dessert, the chocolate bacon was clumsy in execution and unappealing. The accompanying pumpkin pie drew little resemblance to its name even though the waitress assured us it was deconstructed. We got the distinct impression that day that our presence was rather a hindrance. Our visitors loved the setting but that is all. I was disappointed with the menu, underwhelmed by the food and the attitude of the staff, quickly paid and departed not to return for a...
