reading some reviews, i am wondering if they are persons with an interest in this business, because contrary to those positive comments - i found the reverse...... the service was unfriendly and impolite. e.g. dont sweep around our feet (twice) in the 30mins we were trying (not) to regurgitate our meal ! the duck spring rolls I had, had no discernible duck meat and when i bit into it, the creamy bizarre tasting filling spilt over my lips causing a burn which took days to recover from. my wife had the Moroccan chicken salad thinking it was the healthy option...... WRONG! the chicken was deep fried and the salad was drowned in a mayo dressing. as for the view from our window seat..... mostly we couldnt see past the vehicles (including trucks and horse floats) waiting for the ferry..... we spent 8 days in port Mac from sydney, eating out every lunch and dinner, and this place was by far the worst experience we had! my wife tried the holy goat coffee as take away afterwards.... it was like we had run our nespresso capsule a second...
Read moreBooking in for a Saturday night dinner for two was easy and there were a few empty tables. The waitress offered us to sit anywhere so we chose inside. When asked what we had decided on, I said the Shiraz and two home made meat pies. The waitress said there were no pies left (this was at 6.15pm). I asked what else was not on the menu as there were not many Mains to choose from. She mentioned another dish not available. I said OK, I will have to make another choice of food and wine. When she came back, I ordered the two battered sea food and chips and a bottle of Chardonnay. About five minutes later a waitress brought a bottle of Shiraz which I turned back and explained why. The mains and the Chardonnay followed soon after. the food was very Bistroish and meh! The wine was pleasant but nearly $40. It was very disappointing to say the least even though other reviewers on here have liked the place. Oh well, the view was pleasant and so was...
Read moreSaturday 17/08/13 We entertained a party of 15 at Port Piazza to celebrate my wife Linda's 70th birthday. What a wonderful evening, made all the better by the attentive yet discrete service of the owner and staff. Congratulations to the new Chef. In spite of the fact that the restaurant was full, the food was superbly cooked and served in good time (AND PIPING HOT). The venue, situated opposite the settlement point ferry on the Hastings River is most attractive and the tasteful table presentation set the mood for a fun birthday party. Although this is a BYO establishment, no corkage was charged and the price for the night by comparison with many local restaurants we have tried, was very reasonable. Apart from our casual dining experiences, this is now the sixth function we have held at Port Piazza and we will continue to patronize it in the future. Highly recommended...
