Being a local it’s great to see some of the changes made. Love that the new owner is having functions and events, love the live music too. But one would think that a fully prepared kitchen would be arranged and be a top priority over the events being held. Also being a country town pub locals (who play a large part in promoting businesses) expect to have their $40 steaks cooked as requested ordered a medium rare porterhouse burnt to shithouse. Another disappointment was asking the girls for 16 wings ( which cost $24 roughly) and being told that no we can’t do that in areas we can give you two lots of 8 and then proceeding to charge $32 instead of just putting it through at the price of 16 wings
all for them to come out on the same plate? Feels like a scam or maybe the ladies are that bright?. After years of hoping someone will do something decent with our little local it’s a shame that the food is such a let down. Seems that there is a lack of organisation. Hoping that the manager/owner will take into consideration some of the reviews about this to improve as it is a...

We went for dinner and when we went to order told they had no chicken schnitzel available sold out on a Monday night. Not off to a good start. Half the menu has selected time available for the food. So we got 2 fish and chips, 2 steaks and a kids nuggets and chips (chips cold) Both steaks cooked wrong and everything was cold on the plate. My steak was to be med rare it came out blue everything on the plate cold. I tried to eat my steak but couldn't and asked for it to be fixed. I received the same piece of steak back. They put my steak on the grill which I had tried to eating. That is not ok for health reason for other people eating there. It came back and it was now rare not med rare. Other steak was to be med well and that was just med rare. Overall the meals were disappointing and a waste of money. We went home and had left overs. No-one came back to check after I asked for my steak to be fixed. Definitely wont be be back. Was a great little pub before change of hands. Drinks and garlic bread the...

Have been twice since the new owners took over. Disappointed both times. The first time we asked about vegetarian options and were told "I don't know". The next words spoken should have been "I'll check with the cook". This did not happen. When we finally got our meals one was fine except for the cold fries - the second was just warm and not cooked as requested. The second time we found half the menu items unavailable. We decided to leave and go in to town for a better and cheaper meal. In an Aussie pub how do you not have enough schnitzel or parmigiana for lunch? We don't understand how there are no vegetarian options considering the availability of good vegetarian burgers on the market. So simple, so quick. Under the previous owners we ate here once a week. The food was what you would expect at a pub - always presented well - and priced appropriately. Not...

What an absolute gem. The owners’ pride shows through in everything from the vibe, the food, and the wine list. This spot would go bonkers in the big smoke! I came with my two boys and we all left happy. They were able to run around and just be kids, without bothering anyone because of all the great outdoor space. And the food. Hands down the best schnitty I’ve ever had, along with grilled veg you’d be happy with at a fancy restaurant, gorgeous buttery mash, and what tasted like homemade mushroom sauce. My one son’s kids fish and chips had a huge chunk of barramundi in a great, well flavored batter. Don’t go past the Dear Vincent wines. Made just behind the pub and top of the heap in comparison to some of the other wineries in the area.

We had a great stay — the room was clean, comfortable, and had everything we needed. Having a pub right next door was a bonus, especially with live music and a fun play area that kept our young kids entertained. The Ballandean burger was delicious, and the wine selection was excellent. The only downside was the checkout experience. We planned to leave at 7:30am but couldn’t find anyone at reception, and there was no letterbox or instructions for returning the keys. After waiting for 30 minutes, we ended up sliding the keys under a staff room door, which unfortunately delayed our schedule. Would’ve gladly given five stars, but that part brought it down to three for us.

The garlic bread is nice, also the lamb is ok. But the rump steak is beyond horrible with lots of gristle, burnt and tasted bitter on the outside but still raw in the inside (the first pic shows the burnt edges but I forgot to take the pic of the bottom of the steak which is mostly dark). We left the whole steak mostly untouched after a few attempts on chewing and eating failed. Did not bother letting them know because saw that one of the reviews was about the same thing and the customer was laughed at. I couldn’t justify giving more stars because one of us couldn’t even eat a proper dinner. For the price and quality of food, we won’t be back.
