So, giving a 2 because I felt one wouldn't be fair considering the food is great. We sat in the outdoor seated area. A new patron came and sat at the table beside us with a couple of friends. The one patron thought it was OK to start smoking at the table. He knew that this wasn't OK as he was trying to hide his smoke with his hands. I asked the patron to stop smoking. His immediate response was "I didn't know I couldn't smoke here". I continued with my response of "you're sitting in an area that serves food, common sense would say that you can't". Apparently my comment was considered rude for simply pointing out the Queensland laws for smoking. He continued to provoke a response and past me to smoke elsewhere with the typical derogatory comment as normally used by someone with low intelligence. Minutes later our food arrived. My partner asked the waitress about the smoking policy at the area. We were informed it was elsewhere where the patron and his colleagues continued to argue the point. The waitress asked us if we wanted to talk to the manager on duty. We agreed that this would be a good idea. The manager came out to us for a chat. She asked us what was going on, we both told our version of what happened. We were both told that if we continued, we would both be asked to leave the premises. I can't understand how we as a couple could be asked to leave a venue for simply quoting Queensland smoking laws and after derogatory comments had been made to myself. We finished our food and went inside to see the manager again. After a fruitless and frustrating conversation, we decided to leave as she didn't have the capacity to come up with an apology or a meaningful answer on why she put us on notice as well. A different approach by the manager would have been to ask the other patrons what happened and their thoughts on what happened in the incident in question. As stated, food was great, manager was terrible, and, we won't be back. Not interested in sitting in an area where smoking will happen and management won't stand up for...
Read moreOur visit to the Blue Mountain Hotel was genuinely terrible. After driving 3 hours and arriving hungry at midday on a Monday, we at least expected competent service and decent food. What we got instead was a disappointing mess.
We ordered two eye fillet steaks, explicitly medium rare, and both arrived overcooked, not even a tiny bit of pink was visible on either of our steaks. They weren't just slightly off; they were cooked into oblivion. Typically we'd send food back, but given the excessive wait we’d already endured despite the restaurant being nearly empty, we grudgingly accepted the overcooked steaks. To top it off, they shamelessly charge an extra $3 each for sauce, a ridiculous gouge considering their already inflated prices.
The service matched the kitchen: slow, indifferent, and seemingly disinterested. We paid a staggering $112 for two steaks with garlic prawn toppers, expecting decent quality. Instead, we got tough, bland meat and a few miserable prawns with glue-y thick sauce. Honestly, we could have cooked a significantly better meal at home, which defeats the entire purpose of dining out.
The venue itself had a cool vibe and a lovely view, and the beers might be enjoyable, but none of this compensates for gourmet prices matched with subpar, poorly executed dishes. Before our visit, friends warned us about inconsistent experiences here, and clearly, this wasn't a one-off failure. It seems this establishment regularly underdelivers. If you value your money and taste buds, steer clear. Even a place like City Golf Club can cook food better than this place....
Read moreWent here for my anniversary dinner, the booking process online was very easy yet they should show pictures of the different rooms that you can book in to make it easier for the occasion. I had a booking for 5.30 on a Tuesday and was seated very fast. I had booked a table in the 'Bistro' which is surprising very spacious and has a homey feel to it, the overall atmosphere was very dated but still pleasant. I highly recommend getting the garlic bread as a starter, best garlic bread I have ever had. My partner and I ordered our dinner at 5.45ish and it came out at 6pm, the service is very fast. Food came out a bit bit too hot that you had to wait a minute to start eating. I ordered the Chicken Parmigiana and my partner order the Full Pork Ribs. We both decently finished our plates, the food was amazing and tasted very fresh. We both ordered a coke to drink which came out to $9 😬 just for drinks. The total cost with the drinks, garlic bread, and dinner was about $90 (ribs are fairly expensive). Overall I would eat here again for very special occasions taking the...
