Let me start this off by saying that the food at this place is good. It's not the best in Townsville but its far from the worst, so kudos to the chefs. Unfortunately, the chefs aren't able to make up for less than acceptable staff attitude. Apparently here, at the Brothers League Club, an 18 year old is not of satisfactory age to watch his two younger siblings while the parents are enjoying themselves in gambling section. Was told that we couldn't stay in the lounge area and when I asked them where we could sit we were not provided with an answer. No answer was provided when I asked "So do we just sit outside?" either.
The mission statement states you want to provide your guests with an "exceptional experience every time you visit our club: one that will stay with you and bring you back to us again." Apparently, the exceptional experience means that an 18 year old, who, in the eyes of the club isn't a responsible adult (besides the fact the law says differently) and his two younger siblings (who are under the age of 18), have to sit outside, in a place where there is no direct line of sight of any staff personnel (yes there is a camera but lets be honest there is no way there is someone watching every camera in the building 24/7).
So if this club deems leaving 3 people, none of whom are of a suitable age in their eyes to sit outside in an un-staffed area in Kirwan at 9 o'clock at night as a safe and "exceptional experience" but doesn't deem a perfectly legal responsible adult to watch over his siblings inside where there are many staff and other onlookers to be acceptable then I think you might want to look over your rules.
Maybe I'm wrong, it could be entirely likely that in-fact I wasn't breaking any rules and your staff members just don't know what they're talking about, after all they couldn't name any other areas of the venue in which I could watch over my siblings other than outside in the car park. Anyways, thank you bar staff for basically kicking us out and not knowing anything about what a responsible adult is. Its unfortunate that you can't be as good as your chefs, who are the only reason this review isn't a 1 star.
(Restaurant staff were good its just the bar ones who are kinda questionable about how they don't get complaints...
Read moreWhat a disappointing venue to eat at. We have dined here multiple times and every single time there have been issues. On one occasion I ordered a vegetarian pizza without cheese and when it finally came out it had cheese. They said they would fix it up and I waited an additional hour for it come out and they gave me a pizza with no cheese but had meat all over it. At this stage I just got it refunded it and gave up. Tonight we returned again expecting the worst but hoping for the best. Ordered a bowl of chips and asked for no parmesan. They took almost 40 minutes and I had to ask where the chips were, it appeared they had no clue, must have lost the order but wouldn't admit it nor apologise. When I came to grab the chips when they were finally cooked they had put parmesan on them which I cannot eat. I told the chef and he was so rude and rolled his eyes at me even though he was the one that had lost the order then made the order incorrectly. At this point I'm almost in tears because the service is so horrible but waited hopefully for the main dish, a vegan enoki mushroom salad, to be brought out. For context, before ordering this I even double checked if this item was available as it always seems to be sold out when we come to the restaurant. Yes they told me, it is. Well when it finally came out the dish was missing the main part, the fried enoki mushrooms and the fried onions and was simply a garden salad with avocado and this costed $25 by the way. When I asked they said 'yeah sorry they had none left'. Unacceptable. I cannnot understand how the main part of a main dish was not supplied and I wasn't consulted, offered a refund or even informed. I ended up returning it and asking for a refund and went without dinner. Not the first time this has happened. I'm honestly in disbelief. There aren't even reasonable options for people who don't consume dairy or meat but the minimal options they have, they don't even make accordingly anyhow. We really enjoy the atmosphere of Brothers but their restaurants need serious overhaul from management. I've never in my life left a 1 star review but I hope this is taken as seriously as it needs to be because as a business owner myself I would be...
Read moreAte here tonight with my Family, staff were polite and meals were served quickly, I personally had the creatively named "This little piggy went to market" Parmigiana which was on special as part of the Tuesday Parmie night. All that being said, the meal as a whole wasn't without issue, my parmie was lukewarm-warm in the centre and the outside crumbing was partially burned in spots, leading me to believe the meal was cooked on a higher temperature than it should have been to attempt to save time, more evidence of this was found in the cheese on the top which was only half melted. Overall it was a nice meal, however I would have preferred waiting a few more minutes for better quality cooking.
The primary issue of the night came in the form of one the other meals, specifically a Fajita Bowl. The meal was well presented and designed to be served cold (As we were informed by staff), however this meal seemed to suffer from the same rushed preparation as my meal, part of the meal were warmer than others and sections of the rice were hard and uncooked, more evidence of rushed preperation. Upon speaking to the staff about the issue, they were polite, however they argued that the meal was prepared correctly, stating repeatedly that it is to be served cold, however this statement does not excuse the parts of the meal that were uncooked and they continued to seemingly ignore that part of our complaint.
Overall, based on evidence I can come to be conclusion that meal preperation was very rushed (Especially given that at the time we were there, the venue was mostly empty, so the kitchen should not have had reason to rush.), likely won't be back for some time despite my mostly adequate...
