Went to the Castle Hill Cafe at Townsville Airport. Ordered a share meal, chose the Calamari at $22.00 The dish arrived, consisted of around 12 small pieces of calamari, coated in a greasy oily batter served with a small insipid salad and little tub of dressing. The serving was barely enough for one and certainly did not meet the criteria of being a shared dish. āŒ Their alcoholic drink prices were unreasonable at between $10.90 & $15. for a stubby of beer, The prices for other types of drinks were prettier much normal; such as cool ridge water $5.95, iced chocolate $8.00 (this drink was lacking taste, was overfilled with ice cubes and did not represent VFM) Cappuccino $5.95 We had to follow up on the coffee and iced chocolate as they were somehow missed off our order. āŒ Total order was $54.9, overpriced and disappointing in both portion size and quality. Certainly lacked ā€˜Value For Money’. Waiter was sour faced and certainly not interested in his job. Will we return? āŒNo, not a snowball chance in hell! Do we recommend this eatery? āŒNo, Absolutely not! Thoroughly deserving of its one 🌟Rating

The largest coffe they have is a small by any other standards for $5.90. I expected a mindblowing experience was coming my way, but alas, no it was mediocre at best. The croissant (ham cheese and tomato) was the only item we received of a decent size, however they couldn't work the toaster properly so it was still fridge temp in the centre. Breakfast burger was tiny and the bacon on it minuscule (like seriously, that hour-old bacon you get from maccas that's dried out to half its original size is bigger). Alltogether, 2 coffees, a tiny burger and a disappointing croissant cost us $40.

We were able to grab a table easily enough and ordered at the counter. We found the staff to be really friendly and helpful and considering it was quite late in the day we found this refreshingly surprising. We grabbed the Southern Fried Barra Burger and the Duck Spring Rolls with Plum Sauce and they came out pretty quickly. The spring rolls were a little overcooked but the Barra burger was great. Eating at the airport can always be a bit hit and miss, so sometimes you just have to take a gamble with the limited options that you have. We were glad we decided on the Castle Hill Cafe!

Nate (girl with the fake eyelashes) really needs to fix her attitude in relation to both customers and her team. I asked for poached eggs and when it came out, they gave me hard butter, which was not spreadable on the toast. When I went back to ask for a room temperature butter, she was quite rude in saying they don't have it. When I asked how to spread it, she sarcastically said "with a knife". From there I said to the lovely older lady Cathy, unless they can find a solution, I would like a refund as I could not spread it on the toast and Cathy offered to heat it up in the microwave for me. Nate then told Cathy off and said we are not heating it in the microwave because it would curdle. Cathy said that I wanted it softened, otherwise I want a refund and Nate then said she wouldn't be refunding. Amongst all her huffing and puffing, she finally quickly steamed the butters under the coffee machine steamer (still not spreadable).

Her attitude to both team and customers is disgusting. I paid $16 for eggs on toast, not eggs on cold bread with a lump of hard butter. I am sure I am not the first one to complain, so just leave the butter out at room temperature and do what is best for your customer - with a smile, because you work in...

Ordered at the table using QR code. Then advised about 5 minutes later there was no gas and our breakfast could not be cooked. The barista told us we could choose food from the display cabinet and the difference in the amount would be refunded. Selected basic breakfast wraps. Before catching plane checked with same barista about how we would receive our refund. She said they could not refund anything ordered on QR code, and they ā€˜wasted’ the difference. The difference was $25. When a refund of this amount was again requested, the manager advised the only option was to select products to that amount. So had to select drinks and a muffin which we did not want otherwise they got a $25 tip. The manager was rude to other customers and we will probably never buy again from this cafe. Do not order on QR code from table. Order only at counter. Breakfast wraps...
