To use an Australian vernacular colloquialism, this is a "constipation pub". 'You just can't pass it!' Most staff were friendly and welcoming on the 2 nights we visited. But the best part was; It was the first pub that I found in FNQ that knew how to cook a rare steak correctly! Yum!! Had the 'surf' added to my piece of 'turf' and this was absolutely gorgeous too. Everything cooked to perfection. The wife's roast lamb serving was very generous too and tasty. The next night we went for the shared seafood platter w` chips & salad. Once again a very generous serving and cooked to perfection too. Absolutely loved the way they prepared the scallops, (No Batter/crumbs like most chefs do), and the squid, (aka calamari), was nice to get the fins(?) and mantle served as very tender strips rather than the usual rings. WHAT A TEAM!! I was looking to buy diesel for a boat delivery down the coast and this looked like a great spot. Stopped in but they had just ran out of ⛽ diesel! No worries Sherry said. I'll wake my man Harold and he'll take you to the next town to get some. And that's what they did! Bloody awesome! Before I came here to get food, I was actually warned by a friend that it was bad. But I don’t like to take on bad opinions from others as we all have different tastes… she was right. From the moment I walked in, I seen a short lady who didn’t greet us, in fact it felt like it was a hassle that we were there. I was hungry, so I thought I’d stay to eat. Got takeaway fisherman’s meal and it was horrible. I felt sick for the rest of the day, everything tasted either stale or over cooked.
