Amazing food but the service is a let down. If you are going to just throw someone out the front by themselves please make sure that they know what they are doing and understand English. I asked for the hot signature seafood platter for 2 but was looked at like i had two heads and was asked in reply the $50 one? I responded with no the $100 hot signature seafood platter for 2. After paying he still looked unsure so I asked twice are you sure it's the hot signature seafood platter for 2 to which he replied yes. 15min later my food was brought out.. one hot platter and one cold, needless to say i wasn't impressed and questioned them about it, but was told no no that's how it comes to which I replied no it's not as I have gotten it before and the menu clearly says it. Prior to this a man asked 3 times how long his food would be so he could go do some shopping but got the same look and...

Had oysters, bugs, salt and pepper squid, squid rings, scallop skewers and chips... I'm a chef and I really haven't enjoyed the food. Oysters full of shell fragments, tasteless bugs (probably thawed, not fresh at all), squid coming straight from an already made frozen packet, extra salty scallop skewers, not cooked properly and not fresh either ... Spent 132$ for a very disappointing food.

Service was poor, we've been rushed to order (it was 2.05pm, kitchen was closing at 2.30pm and there was no other customers) and then had to pay extra 6$ for two aïolis and one tomato sauce as there was no sauce coming at all with the chips (which were very dry) ...

Sorry but I don't recommend this shop if you are after good...

Seafood is always good whether fresh or frozen. The seafood store and display cabinets and fridge/freezers are kept clean and well stocked. Prices can be a bit expensive but pretty much the same everywhere. Also depends on what is in season. The staff are friendly and helpful and are a mine of information on the produce and how to cook it. The Cafe has a good variety of meals on their menu. Prices are fairly normal for fish and chips shop. They make good coffee and crab and prawn sandwiches. The other food is always fresh and tasty. Their cakes and cheesecakes are delicious. Cafe staff are friendly and very efficient with service. You can sit in or take away. Definitely...

For a place selling fresh fish, i was appalled by my fish burger. The 'flathead' was old and tasted like it had been frozen. This coming from a commercial fisherman. The saving grace was I ordered the Red Emperor as a side and replaced that in the burger. Worth $40, yeah nah... Apart from that..the fresh fish side was well stocked and the dining area was also ok.

Out of the three rated fish and chip shops in Mackay, this place was superservice, parking, food quality and table service with a China dinner plate, and cutlery very rare in these days of dining. The staff were polite and well mannered with also a superior clean dining area. We will return for another scrumptious meal.

This is one of my favorite restaurants in Mackay. The food is excellent, generous portions and the service is very quick. The hot and ice coffee is also great. The only problem is that they close at 14.30 h, so they are not available for dinner. They also have a fish market which close later.
