Ruined our Mothers Day. Shockingly terrible.
We had booked a table for our family of 7 to meet there for mothers day lunch. We arrived and they said they didn't have our booking. Luckily we were able to put a few tables together outside but were not assisted by their staff at all.
After bringing a water jug and glasses back from the bar we realised the water glasses they gave us had black mold in the bottom of them. We took them back to the bar and advised the bartender who then had to go through 3 glasses before they could find any that did not have black mold in them to give us.
We went up to order food. We were told that they were too busy to take any more food orders for at least another 15 minutes and to come back in 15 minutes to see if they were ready to take any orders yet. They then advised us that once they take our order there will still be at least a 1hr wait for food. So we were looking at a minimum of an hour and fifteen minutes before we could have lunch.
We had a vegetarian with us and the one vegetarian main meal that used to be on the menu has now been taken off. There was nothing for him to have for lunch.
The food prices have gone up 30%-50% from when we were last there a couple of months ago. I understand there are price increases due to covid of up to 20% at some places but this increase is huge. In addition to this they have their old menus and old menu pricing still online which is misleading.
A few days later we called to complain. The manager or owner (not sure who we spoke to) said nothing but "I wasn't there that day so I don't know". They were not apologetic and seemed unsure as to why we were calling.
Unfortunately there are not too many options in Mackay for a meal with a water view and so Eimeo Pub can retain customers despite its appalling service and below average food standards. We have experienced their lack of hospitality before but like many other Mackay locals continue to give them business purely due the beautiful ocean views. This bad experience however takes the cake. I hope that one day someone who knows what they are doing finally takes this place over. It's such a waste of an...
Read moreSome constructive criticism. Ordered the garlic prawns in a 'tortilla basket'. The dish came out without the basket. Took it back and were told by the young gentleman taking orders that the sweet potato crisps sprinkled on top was the tortilla basket. We had to challenge that twice, and only upon speaking to another young lady, who took the time to check with the chef, were we told that the kitchen was out of tortilla chips. We asked if there was any alternative to the chips, or we could be compensated in some way, and were told that the manager would be asked, but no one came back, and the servers just avoided us for the rest of the time. As we were leaving, I asked to speak to the manager, to pass on the feedback in person (were not upset and made sure we were polite), and was told the manager was in the bathroom, and sorry about the problem with the dish, it was a really busy day (fair enough, this was the young lady, she was good). We chose to wait around, and 15 minutes later the manager 'was still in the bathroom' (on a really busy day? anyway benefit of the doubt). Left my number and was told I would be called back, this did not happen. May seem like a small thing, and we chose not to push the point, but the prices here are not the cheapest in town, and as such we expect a better level of service. We made sure to be polite in the way we interacted, but unfortunately were just ignored, and not called back, and really soured what would have otherwise been a nice meal. We live down the road and unfortunately now will need to think twice about coming back. Communication and service improvement from in such situations would go a long way to improving the customer experience and also retention. Just some hopefully helpful and...
Read moreIt was my first time visiting this place with friends and family from NZ. The exterior of this place wasn't very inviting. It felt outdated and would greatly benefit with some upgrading in seating. We asked if there were any free tables and we're told to go have a look (this was concerning). We wanted to try this place out and after moving tables twice we finally had a table that could fit us all in. The view from the top is quite pretty and there is a lovely breeze to keep you cool. The food was average, the entrees were more delicious in comparison to the mains we ordered. The oysters were over powered by a sauce (I'd recommend ditching the sauce and allowing the full taste of the oyster to shine), the steak was over cooked with the vegetables being quite greasy (steaming the vegetables would be beneficial), the highlight of the meals were the Cobb loaves (well executed in my opinion). On my next visit I think I'll stick to entrees and drinks. I think it's over priced for the quality of food you get. If we hadn't laid so much for mains I don't think I would upset with the food. Nonetheless, we still enjoyed the views while eating. Customer service was average with staff trying their best to get things right, it felt stressed and rushed. Tables were not being cleared fast enough and the seating was close to others. I hope there are improvements made so we can...
