Yeah cool pub and all but rude arrogant so called service from the owner/manager.

I'm coeliac and decided to order a gluten free pizza. He knew all the details and I'd asked all the questions about the sauces, toppings, way it was cooked etc yes it's all gluten free. So I ordered it and as usual there was the extra surcharge for having gluten free base so I paid for that and he was assuring me it would be gluten free and he has a regular come in and order gf pizza and they've never got sick.

Pizza came out the wife is just as blunt as the manager. Tried to ask her if was definitely gf she just goes here you go and walks off.

We left and he said I hope everything is all ok and I said well I guess it's gluten free she didn't say. Yes it is I already told you that he said. It appears they don't like being asked questions. Well it wasn't. Got home later and turned violently ill. Felt so sick I started throwing up and passing out. This happened multiple times my partner ended up taking me to the hospital. It was the worst attack I've had. At one point I stopped breathing when I passed out and took a while to come to.

He called the pub the next day to talk to the owner. He was talked down to, spoken over and cut off. He still pleaded he thought it was gf and there was no apology or offer of money back nothing.

Don't waste your money or time here especially if you are gluten free! It's disappointing when you pay all this money for food plus the extra fee, put trust in people to do the right thing and then end up throwing it all up and ruin the hard work over the years of being on a strict gf diet, cooking for yourself, never eating out and the one time you do you regret it. I didn't choose to have this autoimmune disorder but businesses could at least take...

We had a fantastic meal at the El Arish Tavern. New owners have taken over the Tavern since the beginning on July 2025 and the food is delicious. We stopped in on our way back to Mission Beach from white water rafting in Tully and had the fish burger. The bread was super soft and nicely warmed, the two fillets of fish were locally caught red snapper and cooked perfectly. The tartare sauce in the burger and on the side for the chips was really flavoursome. Would highly recommend giving this little...

If you like to stumble upon a gem in the middle of nowhere then this is the place, outback style pub. Only criticism was the chicken burger. Don't call it chicken crumbed in a burger if you are using pre made frozen fake chicken and deep frying it. It lacked a sauce, it lacked the taste of chicken and rather than a piece of iceberg lettuce, a slaw with Mayo would of saved it provided you actually used chicken breast crumbed in panko or real bread crumbs and...

Had an awesome Wednesday night buffet dinner a few nights ago! The new owner was awesome having a chat to us on arrival about what his plans were to renovate the pub (back new deck and roof to come!). The dinner was also absolutely incredible - so much variety, flavour and filled us all up. Even dessert we had two options and plenty of leftovers if you wanted seconds. Thanks for being so welcoming to us travelling through - will be back!

A great looking old pub. The staff are friendly. The restaurant and outdoor areas a huge for a small town pub. Sunday session last Sunday of month with courtesy bus. Pool table. The place has character and local characters
