Homestyle Bake — Restaurant in Queensland

I had one dealing with homestyle and won't deal with them again. I called in to pick up an order at about 3.15pm. It was raining. I was sent around the back to the loading dock by Nicole at the front desk who was not friendly and actually came across as very rude. She said she was going to call someone to come out and help me. I waited about 15 minutes, in the rain, noone came to help. I rang the office and spoke to Mindy who was also very rude, but said she would call someone to come and get my order. I waited another 15 minutes, still noone came. I called office again at 2 minutes to 4 and they'd closed. I ended up bailing up a truck driver to get help who gave me Darren's phone number. 10 minutes later, I left without my order. Darren delivered my order to my home the next day and was very apologetic and lovely to deal with so this is no reflection on him. The service from the girls in the office is appalling and I feel they should not be in a customer based role if they cant treat the customer correctly. Food is great if you can handle the awful treatment from staff members.

EDITING TO ADD: I fail to understand why me being a relative of a current employee at the time (now resigned) is relevant. My review is based purely on my experience and my experience alone. I fail to understand what emailing Toni will do as it doesn't change my experience in any way. For the record, I was not in the wrong place, I did ask another employee who walked past if I was in the correct place and he told me I was. We recently supported our local sport club fund-raiser by purchasing a family beef and mushroom pie from Homestyle Bakery. The pie is certainly big enough to feed our family of four, and the pastry was light and flaky. The filling, however was terrible! It consisted of a homogeneous, pasty, gloopy paste that was sloppy and confusingly gritty at the same time. It was bland and underseasoned. It was almost as if the entire mix of beef and mushrooms was pureed and then poured into a pie shell. Altogether a terrible purchase that we were unable to finish. It is highly unlikely that we would ever support a fund-raiser of this type again if the pie we purchased was the best that this company can produce.

02/07/22 Cheese and Spinach Roll - 4 pack. As a continuation to the products we purchased as part of our local sports club fund-raiser, today was the turn of the Cheese and Spinach roll. Whilst not as terrible as the product reviewed above, all I can say is that you really really need to wash your Spinach properly before you process it, either that, or make sure that your supplier washes it before they deliver it to you. There's nothing worse than grit in your mouth after you have eaten something. Apart from the grit, the product was OK. It reheated well and tasted fine. If I could give a no star review, I would. I am so disappointed with your pies. I bought 2 as part of a fundraiser for a local school, as we were working away 12 hrs/ day and didn't have time to prepare. 1st was meat and potato. The meat was a gelatinous concoction with only half the pie with instant mash potato. The second is chicken and vegetables. I read the ingredients this time. 21% chicken, 8% vegetables. The rest is full of chemicals. Including soy protein. Had the list of ingredients been listed on your order form? I would not have bought your products. But then, I guess you rely on this to sell your products. Never again will I support any product through a fundraiser. You have ruined it for everyone.
