McDonald's Calliope Travel Centre — Restaurant in Queensland

Okay, so I have never reviewed a McDonald's before because I wasn't disappointed, because I don't expect much of a fast food restaurant. Usually the food tastes always the same and usually the staff is stressed but still friendly if something went wrong with the order. Most of the time the customers are more unfriendly than the staff members. This McDonald's was the weirdest McDonald's I've been so far here in Australia. The young lady at the counter who sorted the food and gave it to the customers looked very annoyed and bored even though we were the only customers there. We ordered 2 burgers, 2 fries and chicken nuggets. We had to wait 15 minutes which is fine to me but still weird because we were the only customers. We got our food and checked if everything was fine, my partner ordered a burger with extra bacon, but it was missing so we talked nicely to the young lady about it and she grabbed the burger and gave it to the other young lady who was doing the burgers and told her to put bacon on the burger. I have never been a witness of a burger returned to the preparation and been completed and given back to a customer. Never! Usually you can keep it and you will get a new one for free or they chuck the wrong one out and make a new or they give you a refund but they have never given it back to preparation. After all this weird things the food was very, very disappointing. I don't expect McDonald's food to taste like a 5 star food but I expect it to taste like McDonald's food usually does. But it hasn't, even the fries were freshly made they were not good at all, the burgers which usually are full of McDonald's burger taste were just not tasteful at all and the nuggets were cold, like rubber and not crunchy at all. If a McDonald's can't even reach the low taste scale of an average McDonald's it's not good. And because it was soooooo bad, I had to write a review. I have never eaten something less...

McDonalds is consistantly the same all over Oz. Right? Well this one is different. I know it is inside a petrol station complex in the middl;e of nowhere but surely somebody can take the initive and clean the tables. At a time of high Covid - 19 expectancy and regulations, noby cleaned the table while I was there. There were no hand sanitisers and I had to ask for a serviertte. They could also put away the rubbish and sweep the floors. While I am at it McDonalds used to be priced reasonably. I bought a McMuffin a hash brown and a coffee deal. The coffee was mid flavoured, milky and luke warm. For the same price, $10.90, I could buy breakfsat at another town, two eggs, two rashers of bacon and two toast. Served on a plate with real cutlery. Yeah the coffee was extra but is was a far tastier breakfast. The meal at McDonalds Calliope left me feeling ill all morning. Afterwards I did not have any other signs of illness just a general feeling of something not right in my stomach. From here on in, while travelling, I will avoid McDonalds and look for alternatives. They are no longer value for money and there is no personal service or even a general welcome. I travel lots. Unless I have no other option, McDonalds is...

The food and drink were terrible.

The nuggets weren't good, the chips weren't warm, the iced chocolate drink hardly tasted of chocolate... It was really disappointing as we were rather hungry after having driven 6hrs straight.

The service itself was fine. I'd recommend the self-order be up to date with what the store has in stock and are able to do, as frappés were listed as unavailable but a customer asked a manager if they are doing them and he said they were and unfortunately this was after we had already ordered.

As for the atmosphere - because it is joined with a fuel servo and a rather decent sized seating area, there was a bit of hustle and bustle. So it was rather loud, particularly with the sound of screaming kids echoing off the walls. The seating area closest to Maccas though was rather filthy. There was sauce and bits of food covering the walls and it was quite disgusting. Looked like it wasn't fresh, either. Not sure if this is a Maccas problem or a cleaner problem though.
