Miriam Vale Bakery — Restaurant in Queensland

I was here this morning with my hubby. He had a mushroom pie and a jam doughnut. I had a salad roll and a small beesting. Hubby said the pie was excellent. But that's all we could say was good. The problem is the dough mix. It's dense, heavy, a bit cold (weirdly) and feels not fresh to the palate (even though we were assured all fresh this morning). The roll and the doughnut were this same dense (overworked?) dough and then strangely the beesting was also made with this dough (rather than a choux pastry). The bakery is nice - we sat outside in the sun. It has a great park across the road which includes public toilets. The bakery staff are lovely, obliging and hard-working. My niece and I dropped in to the bakery on our annual trip to Miriam Vale to enjoy a little sweet treat. My niece had perused the bakery selection before exiting via the side door to take some fun pictures with her friend in the abnormally large chocolate doughnut. As my niece exited I overheard one of the cashiers tell my nieces male friend to take some pictures of her posterior as she bent to comically put her face in the doughnut hole. Her male friend was confused and concerned as they repeatedly told him to hurry and take a picture of her behind. This was quite disturbing. Whilst only vaguely hearing about miriam vale in the past, it was a lovely surprise to actually visit the town a few times while I was in Agnes Waters. The selection of food is fantastic. While I didn't have that may things to eat, what I did have was lovely and fresh and delicious. The hamburgers other people were eating looked delicious and big. Staff were very friendly and i was greeted with a smile. I definitely would recommend anyone passing through to stop there and have something to eat. I'll be back again.
