I was put in the accommodation by work, however was not informed about the provided meals until after a week into my stay where I mentioned to a cafe staff member that I live across the road. I have been woken up by housekeeping before 7am on three occasions now, I have no idea in what world this is acceptable.
Went for dinner at the restaurant and ordered a rump steak as prompted by the wait staff as the better option over the chicken with curry sauce. Asked to have served with chips and vegetables, but only steamed veg (no potato bake). I went to the empty bar and had to ask the preoccupied staff for a glass so I could pour a glass of water cos I had a tickly throat. Decided to order a drink and asked for a schooner of cider that was automatically served with ice, probably because I'm female or something... waited over half an hour in what was now an empty restaurant where I could listen to the chefs chat. I needed more water and was informed that the bar was closed and I needed to go to the front bar. As a young female, I was reluctant to go into this area of the establishment due to seeing rather drunk males on entering earlier on. There was no water on the bar so had to walk around the other side to get the attention of the staff member. When I returned to my table my food had arrived with a waitress apologising for the wait and offering me a dessert. I declined a dessert as I didn't want one and does not suit my diet. She insisted but I said no I would be full after eating this meal and that I had to go to bed soon due to my early wake up by housekeeping, but honestly I couldn't think of anything more depressing than spending another half an hour in an empty room with no music and just the sounds of the staff packing up and chatting about going home. My steak was cooked as ordered and I went to pour the mushroom gravy over it which once I poured it I realised had formed a layer from sitting under the heat lamp and was lukewarm at best. Despite specifically asking for just steamed veg I was still served potato bake along with a piece of carrot that looked like it had been left out on the side of the road under the hot sun for a week. After eating the steak for a couple minutes I realised I didn't have any chips so went to the service desk to ask whether there was chips coming, but I quickly realised that they had been completely forgotten, but the chef insisted it wouldn't take long. I handed the wait staff my plate of veg saying I didn't want it as the veg was cold, not appetizing and not what I ordered. Returned to my seat to keep eating what was becoming a cold steak and it was then I decided to leave.
I wouldn't normally write a review like this, but after spending over 5 years in all facets of this industry it was easy for me to see how this experience could have been avoided and completely different. Tonight I entered the establishment in a good mood and left feeling forgotten and alone. Not a good feeling given that settling in this town is hard enough when you don't know anyone. I will be very reluctant to return to this establishment on my own accord at...
Read moreA Delightful Experience at Irish Club: A Fusion of Irish Cuisine and Hospitality
I recently had the pleasure of dining at the Irish Club, and I must say it was an absolute delight. Located in the heart of the city, this charming restaurant offers a unique fusion of Irish cuisine and warm hospitality. From the moment I stepped inside, I was captivated by the cozy and inviting atmosphere that exuded an authentic Irish charm.
The restaurant's interior is tastefully decorated, with traditional Irish elements combined with modern touches. The dim lighting and comfortable seating create a relaxed ambiance, perfect for an intimate dinner or a gathering with friends. The staff greeted me with genuine smiles and a friendly demeanor, making me feel instantly welcome.
Now let's talk about the highlight of the Irish Club – the food. The menu boasts an extensive selection of Irish-inspired dishes, prepared with the freshest ingredients and a creative twist. As a fan of traditional Irish cuisine, I was thrilled to see classics like Irish stew, fish and chips, and shepherd's pie on the menu. Each dish I ordered was a masterpiece of flavors, beautifully presented and cooked to perfection.
One standout dish that I highly recommend is their Guinness-infused beef stew. The tender chunks of beef, paired with hearty root vegetables, were braised to melt-in-your-mouth perfection. The rich and robust flavors of the stew were enhanced by the unmistakable taste of Guinness, creating a truly memorable culinary experience.
Another dish that left a lasting impression was the seafood platter. It showcased a delightful assortment of fresh seafood, including succulent prawns, plump mussels, and perfectly seared scallops. The seafood was cooked with finesse, highlighting its natural flavors and accompanied by a tangy lemon-butter sauce that added a delightful zing.
The Irish Club also boasts an impressive selection of beverages, including a wide array of Irish whiskies and a well-curated beer list. The knowledgeable staff was more than happy to recommend pairings to complement my meal, further enhancing the overall dining experience.
Service at the Irish Club was exceptional. The staff was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu. They were quick to offer suggestions and accommodate any dietary preferences or restrictions. Despite the restaurant's popularity, I never felt rushed, and the pacing of the courses was just right, allowing me to savor each dish at my own pace.
Overall, my experience at the Irish Club was nothing short of outstanding. The combination of delicious food, warm hospitality, and authentic Irish ambiance makes it a true gem in the city's culinary scene. Whether you're looking for a cozy dinner for two or a place to celebrate with friends, the Irish Club is a must-visit. I can't wait to return and explore more of their tantalizing...
Read moreWe were recommended to head here for dinner and we took the courtesy shuttle. Our driver was absolutely wonderful and a lovely man.
On arrival we were greeted by some really nice staff on reception who told us where we could get some dinner.
We found a table and I went to the bar where I was served by a couple of lovely ladies. They smiled and were very pleasant.
Unfortunately the staff in the bistro let this place down.
I approached the counter to order and the young lady turned away from me, yawning. (I get it. She is tired. She may have had a hard day. She needs to yawn).
I ordered our meals and when the entrees (mozzarella sticks and garlic bread - see pictures) arrived, they were sort of plonked on the table.
The presentation was very lacklustre.
Given, the flavour was quite OK.
Then our main courses arrived. Again, plonked on the table with an empty bowl on the plate. The young lady told us what the dishes were, then simply said ‘salad’ and walked off.
We assumed that the bowl was to be used for self serve salad. That’s fair enough. But how about saying something like ‘the salad bar is over there, please help yourself’.
She left with the previous two plates but left empty glasses on the table.
We approached the salad bar where a couple of hungry gentlemen were standing, looking at empty salad bowls. A number of staff walked past these empty bowls and ignored them.
I asked if there was any more salad and got groaned at.
A lovely lady working in the kitchen (she could have been Thai) arranged for some more salad to be placed on the servery, and this was very much appreciated.
The salads were very tasty, I have to say.
It appeared to us that there was not a lot of direction for the mostly young staff in the bistro.
Just a little customer service would improve the feel of the place greatly and make people feel more welcome, as opposed to...
