The view from here is simply one of a kind. Unfortunately that's where the positives end.
It took a long time to be served and when we were it was because I went to see the attendant at the bar. Two meals were ordered - they were hit and miss. The seafood coconut laksa was alright, however if I am going to be paying nearl $40 for a laksa at lunch, the last thing I want to be doing is shelling prawns - heads and tails.
The pastrami sandwich was not pleasant at all. With two slices of inch thick crusty bread, and half inch pasting of a really unpleasant tomato pesto does not make for an enjoyable $30 sandwich.
Best advice, go here for the views and have some drinks. Pass on the food.
Have been told by locals that the business has changed hands multiple times and the food is very rarely any good.
Response to Owner:
Our disappointment was indeed mentioned to staff at the time. Obviously it wasn't passed like they assured it would be. Thank goodness for Google reviews right?
We've been there multiple times over the last 15 years and love the views, however our experience with the food has increasingly been disappointing with every visit. As for the 'rumoured gossip' - it's obvious that the locals on the area are not aware that it's a twenty year old family business. Kudos for that, but obviously this fact is not being resonated in the community.
Also, best not to take a passive aggressive swipe at online reviews. Intended or otherwise. Take negative reviews with pride, every poor review is a learning opportunity especially the more detailed they are. I wish you the best of luck in future trading.
PS: don't lose the coconut...
Read moreWe were recommended the restaurant by our accommodation concierge as we were staying in Port Douglas, who spoke highly of the food. Our concierge even phoned ahead for us to enquire about disability access as our daughter is confined to a wheel chair. We were advised by the restaurant that access was available, however it would be through the rear of the kitchen, which is not unusual for a person in a wheel chair where disability has not been appropriately planned for. So packed the family of 6 adults off to arrive for a nice dinner but alas they do not cater for people in wheel chairs. Arrived and enquired about accessing the restaurant only to be told that to gain access you have to be transported by a golf cart which doesn't have any capacity to carry a wheelchair, and further that once inside there are steps that would limit where she could be placed or move around. Demoralising is probably an understatement for someone who already perceives that they are a burden on their family and to have made enquiries and the effort to get there to be rejected was an extremely heart wrenching experience. Thankfully we found a nice seafood restaurant at Palm Cove to enjoy the scenery that recouped what was otherwise a very...
Read moreAmazing view, food come out fast and was lovely. Only downfall was the waiter on during our visit. She took our drink order with our food order, but never returned to ask us for further drinks. We sat and waited, and waited but she just never returned. Let me add, we come in right on open - 12PM for lunch and there was only 4 small groups in the restaurant the entire time we were there, so she wasn't run off her feet. Given the circumstances with COVID you would think customer service and wanting to keep your job is a high priority. We had money to blow and would of stayed all afternoon drinking cocktails if we were served. Real shame for the owner to know this staff member wasn't hustling and collecting those dollars. Upon leaving and making payment, she didn't even ask how everything was. (Isn't this like Restaurant 101?) Date was 3/5/21 if that helps the manager pin point who you need to give some talking to for this...
