Saunders Beach Bistro and Pizzeria — Restaurant in Queensland

The Bistro has been closed for some time but recently opened again with a Pizzeria serving wood fired pizzas along with pasta and other dishes. Started doing Sunday breakfasts just this week. I had the smashed avocado with feta, tomato and bacon which was delicious and better than anything I've tasted at the trendy capital city cafes. For dinner we've also had the steak which was awesome and several pizzas which have all been very tasty and perfectly turned out in the wood fired oven. Although the new bistro has a way to go eg not yet licensed for alcohol and no shady outdoor area, it is great to have such a welcome facility at the beach. Don't be put off by the current bare exterior. Inside you'll find superb food and a friendly Saunders...

This honestly breaks my heart... growing up in saunders, I've seen it grow over the years and even worked there as a teenager!

But to recieve this food is devastating... The prawn curry is served in 1 container for curry and rice? .. and there's hardly any rice but an entire onion. The prawns were way overcooked (super chewy) and did not taste freshly cooked either... My mother got the cabonnara and again, barely any noodles, just packed with bacon... She got about 5 noodles....

Dont know if this is an off night or not? Usually the fish/chips/pizza is absolutely divine! But after this... I dont think ill be back for a while 😭

Never ever thought I'd give this gem a 1... The drinks and atmosphere is...

Had a lovely meal here last week. They were super helpful regarding catering to gluten free requirements. Very informed and accommodating, and they're working towards having even more options available in future. I had the pizza which was delicious! (I meant to stop eating and save some for lunch the next day and, well, let's just say that didn't happen!
