We stayed overnight at the nearby Capricorn Caves and stopped by the Caves Pub for drinks and to get takeaway for dinner. Chelsea, the friendly barmaid, welcomed us with a couple of nice cold beers, and we decided to have The Caves oysters and garlic bread while we were there, since we’d skipped lunch. The oysters, done kilpatrick style with a unique twist, were fantastic. For takeaway, we ordered the parmigiana and T-bone with mashed potatoes and vegetables. The quality was outstanding! The chicken in the parmi was thick and juicy, the mash tasted homemade, and the vegetables were so fresh, not frozen and tasteless like you often get at pubs. It was easily the best pub meal we've had in ages and at a great price. We will definitely be back!

Nice old country pub with great feel about it. But food not so good. I had a chicken snitty and it was tiny like a kids serve. The pepper sauce which you pay extra for was like milky water with no pepper flavour. It was so thin. That meal was a fail. And the pricing is up there considering the serving size. But my partner said her steak burger was nice and the chippys are nice. We have friends visiting soon and not sure if I will recommend they go here. But we May try again because maybe I just ordered the dud meal of the day.

Nice friendly country pub. I give reviews based on areas and expectation and this pub was exactly what I expected. Authentic outback country as you want when you travel around. Pros: - tidy - cheap prices - outdoor seating - food - friendly staff Cons: - no sports on tvs (not. Much here to say other than that) Recommendations: - something to keep the ball and chain. Entertained. - men's toilet needs some love. Good job though and Thankyiu for the hospitality.

Pub camping, thank you. So appreciated. Overall, we had a good night. Something happened with a language barrier between the girl that took our dinner order, when I specifically requested entree, and then wait 15 minutes before bringing out the main. It was all bought out together. This has happened to us twice this week. What is wrong with these establishments that offer entrees and mains, but can't space out entrees from mains? You lost stars for that. We played some pool and some tunes on the dukebox. Other than the food mix up it was a good night and really appreciate to be able to stay in the carpark overnight. There were even public toilets...

Stopped there for lunch while I was travelling to FNQ and had the best steak sandwich, the steak had that char grilled flavour and crispness and just melted in your mouth plus the added bonus was the egg waszl cooked just right nive and runny... Pleasant surroundings with a front deck where you could enjoy your meal and beer. Coming back south on my way home I stopped there again and had a evening meal, I had a 300 gm rump and like the steak sandwich the steak was cooked to perfection. If you are in Rockhampton or travelling through I highly recommend taking a break at The Caves township and pop into the...
