Haven't been here before, so decided too come on in for a Pie for lunch.. Sitting 2 up from the Butcher Shop, found getting a Car Park bit difficult, but We Jagged One with a customer just leaving 😁😁 God's were Smiling .. Various Flavours too choose from, reasonable size and @1" high.. but Were a Bit Pricy Being over $5+😳😳, .. I Decided on a Spinach and Feta Parcel, Quite Big too look at, Pastry was , But Was Just That..All Heavy Pastry, not a lot of Said Filling, and Definitely Was Not That... Disappointing when You're Hungry and this Definitely was Not What I Know Them To Be.. Rather a Thick Mush that was Loaded with Pepper with an Unusual Taste😶😶 I Don't Mind Paying Around That amount of Money If It's Good.. Next Up Hub had a Steak & Kidney Pie, with Him Commenting, Where's The Kidney ??😬😬, That's 2,.. What about A Plain Pie, Shouldn't Be too Hard as I just Couldn't Eat 1st option Sadly.. Taste was Nice.. Few bites in,..Oh Oops here we go.. pastry collapsing, and if the filling had've Been Bit Thicker, it wouldn't have Oozed everywhere over my hands and Yep..Over My Shorts !! I Gave up .🙄🙄🙄 There is A Chinese Hot Box Beside the Pie Case that had Fried Rice, Honey'd Chicken and Some other items, looked nice, Maybe I Should've had that, But was Hungry For A PIE!!!. Bread Looked Good, a Nice Assortment too choose from, so will go there for a Loaf or Two next time Travelling Through 🙂🙂 But Hey, Call in and Try for Yourself as Everyone's Tastes are Different🤗🤗,..But When You're a Chef/ Pastry Chef and Caterers Daughter, Growing up with all this, I've A Wonderful Bench Mark too Compair too and Been Spoilt, with making a lot of My Mum's Goodies...
Read moreWas on way to a doctor’s appt from proston and thought to stop in at the bakery. Unbeknownst to me, this bakery offers SO much more than just bakery food.
It’s still the first year I’ve been living out here so my solution to having the food I love so much is to just make it myself. This is acceptable as I love to cook but the nostalgia and memories of a good feed are such a comforting feeling!
Imagine my surprise when I entered the bakery, ready to choose a pie to smash or something similar when I was met with the oasis- like vision of a Bain Marie filled with Asian food!!!
We chose all three of the dishes, fried rice, honey chicken and a fusion dish- butter chicken hokkien noodles 😮 i sceptically eyed off this risqué fusion dish, but how wrong I was to even doubt the creativity of the chef!!!
With only a few minutes to go till my doctor appointment, I hurried to the car and lifted the lid.
That crazy chef had nailed it!! He took a punt and did it ever pay off!
I am going through some health issues right now, so to be able to have a meal that reminded me of my days working in the Brisbane cbd was nostalgically sentimental and lifted my spirits!
I have a reason to leave the house now- and that is to come back and try their sushi, bakery food and of course, grab another serve of their butter chicken hokkien noodles ❤️❤️❤️❤️
So in summary, if you’re like me and love Asian food for breakfast brunch or lunch (there’s never a bad time if you ask me) and you are passing thru wondai, you have to try...
Read moreThe food and the service are excellent and their prices are generously fair. It is well worth dropping into the Wondai Bakery if you are either in the area or just passing by. Further to this just a couple of doors up the Fish and Chip shop is also of the same quality and standard. You will go a long way to find a large piece of fish with a generous serving of chips and salad for just $15.00 which is cooked to perfection and for the perfect taste. Two of Wondai's best. We have yet to try the little Butcher shop a couple of doors down, although by the look of it and the advertisements we are very confident on striking three out of three. Please stay tuned...
