Pink Duck — Restaurant in Rockingham

We visited The Pink Duck for a farewell dinner with a group of 8, and sadly, the service left us feeling disappointed and uncomfortable.

From the start, we were just about greeted, pointed to a table and told to collect menus. While this might be fine for casual drinks, it's not what you'd expect from a venue that presents as a restaurant.

One of our meals (a steak) was missed when ordering, despite the order being read back and repeated twice. Mistakes happen, and we appreciated that the kitchen quickly prepared it and showed us the docket to confirm it wasn’t entered. The chef kindly told us there’d be no charge due to the error.

However, while we were still eating, a staff member brought the EFTPOS machine over and made us pay for the missing steak — even though it wasn’t our mistake and we’d been told it would be complimentary. The way it was handled made us feel like we were at fault, which was really disappointing.

Cocktails were brought to the table, but other drinks weren’t — we had to collect them ourselves. Overall, the service felt disorganised and not suited for larger groups.

The Pink Duck might still be a good spot for small drinks and snacks, but based on this experience, it’s not somewhere we’d recommend for a sit-down dinner or group gathering. Had my birthday celebrations @The Pink Duck last night. Daughter booked on line and received a confirmation email, there was no booking the guy had to put tables together to make us a table. Middle table should not even be out on the floor it slopes that much it’s ridiculous. Ordered drinks they forgot a mocktail, ordered garlic bread and cheesey Garlic bread “(6)” is next to these two items on the menu. I presumed that meant 6 pieces like normal menus that meant 6 pieces. Only 4 pieces of each came out. Ordered another 4 drinks they forgot a cocktail this time. Meals came out and I cannot fault the meals they were all beautiful everyone enjoyed the food. Three more drinks were made and another cocktail was forgotten. The restaurant was NOT busy at all, three drinks were missed all up and each time we informed them the gentleman looked at us as if we were lying, went back to the computer presumably looking up the receipt and then proceeded to make our missing drink. The place was not clean there was dust and grime where it hadn’t been properly cleaned.

Would definitely not recommend this place to anyone until their service and cleanliness pick up...

Went out with our office for lunch and had the hot rock steaks, the salad and chips came out and was quite disappointing as the salad was very basic there were only about 12 chips on the plate, not very well presented, just came out on a small plate, the steaks came out 8 mins later and the rib eyes took about 20 mins to cook, we think it would have been best if the steaks came out first and the salad and chips about 15 mins later as the chips and salad were eaten by the time the steak was ready, then all you had left to eat was the steak and nothing to mix it with, one of the staff members leant straight in front of one of the girls faces to pass the meal over which we think is extremely rude, there was plenty of room for her to move from the head of the table to behind the patron to place the meal. Over all we think it was an average experience with some minor servicing issues that could easily be rectified, and possibly better. presentation for the chips and salad than a small plate, maybe a chip basket and a wooden plater.
