A wonderfully relaxed and interesting place to stay. Very pretty countryside and it's steeped in history. |The Goal has a museum attached to the sleeping quarters. Great to have a look around. It has charming rooms with a shared bathroom, lounge and kitchenette.|We were a large group of cyclists touring the area with an overnight stop in Sofala. Dianne and her husband were so helpful in organising a comfortable stay for us in the old goal house and the cottage. Dianne also gave us great info about where to have dinner (the excellent Café Sofala) and breakfast the next morning (also excellent Painted Horse Café ) |And what an amazing and friendly town Sofala is....we will...

   Read moreWe spent 2 nights at this little gem, with it's 100 metre walk to the friendliest 156 year old pub. Di spent some time with us answering our questions about the gaol which she and her husband have expanded continuing with the flavour of its origins... it's not 5 star but the memorabilia collection is fascinating as are the old magazines and books available. The beds were comfy and the shower was a powerful, hot, wonderful experience! Lots of interesting history around the town and surrounds, with great 4wd tracks and picturesque scenery. We will be...
