Huge Potential

Islanders Tavern is positioned in a beautiful spot overlooking the Hindmarsh Island Marina, there is a playground next to it with a nice big grassed hill and a balcony setting that is superb

The food here has always been a bit hit and miss, they are giving it a crack though and need your support, make sure you provide them feedback to improve

The seats are very hard and barebones, there is a huge need for more comfortable seating

The coffee is poor, very watery and lacking crema, get the coffee right and you will keep them coming back for more

The chips (hot chips) are very good here, consistently

Salt and pepper squid is sensational, tender, soft and delicate, quite possibly the best ive had in a long time

The tapas prawns are also absolutely superb and highly recommended

There is a bunch of boarded menu items above the bar, the restaurateurs have angled towards a bit of Asian food here however it is a bit of a miss in my opinion, the korean chicken noodles are just a bunch of noodles with some chicken drowned in soy sauce, very bland, but filling nonetheless

Lamb here has always been a fight, always been tough whenever we have had it, I really hope they get it right one day

We will be back, I am keen to try the seafood paella on the above bar board, I think seafood here would be a great angle, they seem to do it well and there is not many places in Goolwa and the surrounds that do it well

This spot is an absolute gem!!! It is our go to every time we go to Hindmarsh Island, Goolwa, Middleton etc. Service just wow! It is always top notch, a smile and the staff really aim to please. Our last trip we were there on the 14th of June and there was a small problem with my meal and the way it was handled was just so well done! The food, what a great range, great value and absolutely delicious. We had wings, garlic and cheese pull apart and onion rings. The wings so sticky and spicy, the onion rings fresh battered and the cheese and garlic pull apart is great. Mains the table had fish and chips and steak and it was great! Its dog friendly outside and not like one of those places that just say it is they enjoy your pooches being with you.

When we finally got our meal the food was delicious. We waited an hour for fish & chips with no apology or explanation. This was after the barman basically walked away without taking our order or those behind us before saying 'he'd be back in a minute'. He disappeared out the back, brought a plate of food to the till area, did something and then disappeared again leaving one of the other two to cover as they appeared not to know what was happening either. We also noticed a member of the staff tending to one of two young pups from a pen next to the main entrance during the time we were waiting for our meal. Felt like we were a number and we were extremely disappointed with the lack of customer service. I would hope if we were ever to return to receive the service anyone would expect and is...
