A must stop if your in the area!!! Meg and Bobby have poured their souls into giving this pub new life! We stumbled across The Bellum Hotel while googling where to stay near Mt Gambier. When we arrived Meg very happily greeted us and showed us a beautiful spot under some trees out the back. Our kids happily played in the kids area inside which is accommodating for all ages. A icy cold beer was ready as soon as we walked into the bar and Meg introduced us to a few of the locals, so we got some tips on local areas to visit. The food was delicious, Bobby does and amazing job in the kitchen! A favourite of ours was the Chicken Burger! Our whole stay was just amazing! You couldn't ask for better...somewhere to stay, great food, icy cold drinks & outstanding service! We are already planning our trip back in a few months with some friends! Please do yourself a favour and stop past if only for a meal and a beer on your way through. Little Blue Lake is only a couple of minutes up from the pub so lunch after a swim is a great idea! Thanks for having us Meg & Bobby, see you soon with the...

We were unlucky enough to book for the Xmas period when the hotel and pub were closed, which meant that we needed to call the owner when we couldn’t access the keys. It would have been good to be told the place was closed beforehand. The upside was that we had no drunken patrons leaving the pub noisily, but the cars and trucks coming down the Highway made up for the noise.

Read moreWe came to the Bellum today for a Christmas lunch under its new ownership. We were last here about 14 years ago before moving back to the NT. It was nostalgic to come back, but wonderful to see what this family has done with it! The first thing that struck me is just how clean and fresh it smelt it didn’t have that musty old pub smell at all!
The staff were absolutely lovely,, and the lady behind the bar knew her stuff about the wine list. My husband and I both had the calamari and salad. It was great! We were impressed by the wine menu selection too. Everyone else at our large table were very happy with their meals.
Thank you to the staff for today, the place was packed and you worked so so hard! Well done, we were very impressed!
This family has taken a chance on reopening this gorgeous old pub, and you should too. Give it a go. We will...
