Visited mid afternoon (12 ish) on a weekday. Seems like it was the close to the peak. Still had adequate seating, of which there's quite a few choices.

Food: The main basis for this review. The haloumi salad. It was tasty. Fresh ingredients, where applicable. Dressing was a nice level of salty. Might question pairing haloumi with salty dressing, but it might just work. Caution for those who'd be against this pairing. Edit: quantity - wouldn't say it's a lot, but seems alright considering haloumi. The thin slices of cucumber has given me an idea of how to economise their use at home ;) Haha

Ambience and service: Although near a traffic light, you'll barely notice it. Inviting look, pleasant music at an enjoyable decibel and friendly staff. Quick service and they keep the place clean, cleaning frequently.

Pain point: Cutting haloumi in a bowl, while it lies atop some veggies can prove to be a little challenging. Also the knife I was given found it difficult to cut through my perfect broccoli.

Parking: Street. No trouble. There were a few spots on Ettalong Road when...

Not sure if the original owner have changed. Went to get takeaway coffee on Saturday and coffee was just awful. Took over 15 minutes for the barista to make 2 coffees. Had to ask the girl at the counter whats taking that long to make coffee. Barista seems like some school student who had no idea on how to make a coffee. Totally waste of money and do not recommend anyone. Sorry AJ team when you guys opened your coffee use to be one of the best in this area.

Thanks for your response, seems like you cannot accept a honest feedback. You can comment whatever you like but as a customer we have the right to make our views. If you can read my feedback and did mention your cafe use to be one of the good ones. Anyways all the best and change your attitude if you want to succeed in hospitality business.

If you get satisfaction by reporting my account please go ahead by all means. this just purely shows how much you are impacted when a customer writes a negative review. anyways all the best to AJ admin team, with this sort of behavior you will definitely do...

Visited around 10am on a Saturday morning and they were struggling with service. The waitress was kind but it seemed the tables adjacent to mine was waiting quite a long time for food (it was the same case for my table). I have doubts later in the morning or other peak hour times but it may have been a bad time.

Was looking forward to the knafeh crepe but I think they chose to do a pancake instead, which was too thick and didn't work with what the concept was trying to achieve. The pancake at first, slips from the cream (my photo shows this) which is why I don't think a pancake stack works with this, although the cafe disagreed. Happy for difference of agreement but food should not be slipping at first sight (even with a stick trying to balance it).

Roasted pumpkin was nice but the rest of the dish didn't...

Awesome service, reasonable prices. Very tasty food. They aren’t just any old cafe with the usual type of cafe food. They actually thought about what they wanted to serve and compiled a menu with their own ideas and tastes. This is what makes them successful. Their food is not greasy or low quality. I had the fruity pancakes and it was delicious. Those pancakes didn’t taste like they were from a bottle. AJ’s are a breath of fresh air in what can be a quiet area. Very good for a catch up with friends or for a quick cuppa before heading to work. Parking can be difficult as the cafe is on a corner, but you can find a spot on the road most times.

Really cannot fault this place! Their menu is middle eastern based and is simply delicious. I’ve been here numerous times but on this particular occasion, it was Father’s Day and it was super busy! Even so, the service from the staff was exceptional and the food still came out nice and fast. Speaking of the food, they have knafeh crepes on the menu which I usually order but they put up on their insta an idea to turn them into pancakes instead. I asked if I could try them out when we arrived and they thankfully said yes! In all honesty, the crepes have got nothing on the pancakes! These need to be on the menu permanently!
