Cafe Roman has the potential to bring Riverwood out of the dark age. Upon entering, you are enveloped by classy luxe dark interior, smiles and the aroma of freshly brewed coffee (Campos coffee). Just the things you need to start your day. Service is prompt and friendly, making you feel as though you've been visiting for years. 100% Halal, the menu shows an ubundance of choice from Acai bowls, eggs benedict with smoked salmon, Vegetarian platters and huge pancake stacks. Making for a fantastically difficult decision we all love to hate. This is where Cafe Roman needs to step up it's game if it's to compete in the long run and not turn into another "has been" cafe of the south-western suburbs. Our table of 6 ordered food from all parts of the menu, giving us a broad view of what Cafe Roman has to offer. With the cafe only catering for us and 2 other couples at the time, we were excited. Food service was quick and exact to our orders. From the group, 4 ordered items with poached eggs, sadly each receiving severely overcooked, not one drip of golden goodness you hope to expect. The accompaniments were presented poorly with huge rounds of spanish onion on each plate. The houlumi however, was cooked perfectly, a saving grace. The pancakes looked like something you would see straight off an Instagram feed. Huge pancakes covered in cream with blueberries and candy walnuts. Sadly, this is all smoke and mirrors. The pancakes had none of the beautiful fluffiness they seemed to promise, leaving only a dry residue inside your mouth. The cream is not whipped, though the CAN it is sprayed from will tell you so. Only 1/4 of this meal was eaten as it was just a waste of space. Overall, Cafe Roman was an experience that left us somewhat disappointed. The coffee was superb, great to see a brand such as Campos Coffee making its way to Riverwood. For a morning coffee on the run, I would highly recommend. The price of the food was a little bit high for the lacklustre performance the chef was able to produce. We could see what Cafe Roman was trying to do, and we love it. Some refinement and research will make this a flagship for the "Melbourne" style cafe's we all need more of. I love it

The last two times I got coffee from here have been terrible. I ordered soy milk. Both coffees were made by a girl. They were lumpy and terrible tasting. Thick and gluggy, clumpy. The texture was wrong. After drinking through the froth it was milky then it was just thick clumpy lumps. I don’t even know what I was drinking. Before those experiences , a man made the best one’s, that’s the only reason I kept going back cause I’ve had the best coffees there, but not anymore. I don’t know if the milk is off or it’s been over heated or mixed with old milk that’s been left out.? it’s putrid and after twice being slapped I won’t be coming back. It’s like drinking thick mud and being drowned in chocolate powder. First time I asked for a soy latte and second time a soy cappuccino . This is the soy cappuccino, yes I tried my best to drink it but ended up throwing it out. The best way to explain the coffee was like drinking scrambled eggs.

Had such a great breakfast experience here with friends. It’s a family owned business, and you can really feel the care they put into everything. I ordered the Mediterranean board with poached eggs, and it was fresh, flavourful, and beautifully presented. The eggs were perfectly poached. The meal was satisfying and not too heavy. My friend had the sujuk and egg pan, which was full of bold flavours - definitely a great pick if you’re after something hearty. I also tried my first oat milk decaf coffee, and it was surprisingly delicious - smooth, creamy, and well balanced. I finished with a brulee cheesecake tart which had a lovely flavour and came with fresh strawberries. Portions were generous, the service was friendly, and the whole place had a relaxed, welcoming vibe. Highly recommend for a quality breakfast spot that supports local, family run hospitality.

I've been here before for breakfast and enjoyed my meals, no problems. Today was the first time we had lunch here. We ordered a beef burger and a steak sandwich. I requested a salad instead of fries and this was not an issue. Many places make a fuss of swapping items, so this was a positive.Atmosphere was also nice as usual.

The salad however, was overpowered with olives and olive oil. The menu indicates that beetroot is part of the burger. I noticed it wasn't in the burger and asked. I was then told there was none left.  It would be courteous to mention this at the time the meal is placed on the table. The burger was nice. The steak sandwich was tasteless, the meat cold and the bread did not seem fresh. All in all, not enjoyable. My friend only ate half the steak sandwich and left the remainder. I've had steak sandwiches elsewhere and this was nothing alike. Not worth the $. It would have been nice had the cashier asked how...
