Harry and Brendaâs Cafe in Hornsby Heights has got to be the best coffee in Sydney. After living in Hornsby heights as a kid growing up watching the small business (a convenience store) slowly struggle I moved away to the city and became a big fan of brunch at numerous quality cafes in the inner west. When I moved home to save money I noticed a cafe had begun operation in the small corner shop and went to check it out. I was wonderfully surprised at how delicious the Bacon and Egg on Turkish bread breakfast was and how it complimented the amazing coffee. I asked the owners their story and they told me they had decided to open the cafe and go to Barista classes to learn the inside scoop on what customers love. What they learnt was that great coffee and quality service was what created repeat customers and I can safely say that they have met these requirements and exceeded them. I have been going back almost daily for my morning coffee... and breakie (a guilty pleasure).
The atmosphere is great, sunny outdoor alfresco dining mixed with a family orientated setting is great for ones emotional well being. On a sunny day there is friends, family, cyclists, dogs and their walkers, elderly couples, tradies, mums and young ones all joining together to enjoy a nice cuppa. On a cold/rainy/windy day the cafe provides blankets to warm up under and thatâs a great personal touch that I believe shows they really do care for their local friends.
As a University student I also enjoy the quiet table settings that allow me to study for hours on end while chatting with local friends and of course Brenda and Harry who are always so happy to see me. I no longer even need to ask for a coffee they just say âthe usual!?â When I walk in and we have a nice chat, if youâre lucky you may even get a free vanilla slice which I think is reserved for the truly devoted customer haha.
This is a great family run small business that really works hard, Brenda and Harry work seven days a week and also provide great service. After speaking with them today about how life was going they told me that at times the cash flow can me slow but after I suggested they do some online marketing Brenda stated that she is happy with the number of customers as it allows her and her staff to create top quality food and coffee as opposed to rushing to meet demands and losing that quality. That was refreshing to hear and something you donât see everyday.
I thoroughly recommend this cafe to anyone looking to enjoy a nice coffee and...

But when I attempted to return it after taking one sip, and asked them to instead made me a hot choc, they insisted I pay... By bringing my original coffee back and saying= you have already drank some, you have to pay for it. I thought there was a misunderstanding and I politely tried to explain why I had returned it, and gave them some constructive criticism etc and the owner didn't want a bar of it... He quickly became very...
