Hungry Jack's Burgers Auburn — Restaurant in Sydney

I should’ve judged the place by it’s cover. The car park was empty and barely any cars in the drive through but decided to give it a chance nonetheless. Went in about 9:30 pm last night and got stuck in the drive through behind a car waiting before the intercom to order. At some point we’d given up and decided to leave, but couldn’t do that because we were sandwiched by a growing line behind us and the car who really wanted their hungry jacks this late at night. At some point the workers decide smoko was over and the car in front of us moved to the next window, my girlfriend and I pull up only to continue waiting for someone to respond over the intercom.

Now let me tell you the first words to come out of that intercom was not what I expected, a down right rude “what do you want to have?”. No apology for making us wait over 25 minutes simply to order? No explanation to what the hold up was should warrant jail time personally.

Nonetheless we’ve waited this long may as well get put sticky date pudding desserts. Pull into the window to exchange our currency with equal value in food, and I can’t help but notice that she was hand writing all the orders, one can only assume that their system was down and decided let’s just wing it. In between take orders she’s yell to the back and have the occasional chuckle w her workmates. I’m sorry lady but this is no laughing matter, you’ve just about wasted everyone’s time.

We get our food and can’t help but notice there’s no soft serve on our sticky date, with skepticism we question the lady what’s the deal, surely this is a prank. You can’t make us wait at this point close to 3/4 of an hour, for half of a sticky date pudding. Alas it was true their machine was not currently operating, at this point I’m thinking why do you fail to mention this at any point before you took my money you greedy, incompetent shmuck. I’ve been to other HJs and ordered the same thing and they at least offer to put whipped cream on top. At this point I’ve had enough and just drive off.

This was probably the worst fast food drive through experience I’ve ever been through and my local McDonald’s is Woodcroft. At least they have the courtesy to say their system is down when they’re not bothered taking orders.

Not all was lost though we went to McDonald’s and got a soft serve which wasn’t a bad match w the HJs sticky date. All in all I wouldn’t recommend this...

I agree with previous reviewer - this place is a shocker. Layers of dust on top of drink machines, drink taps with only water for weeks as they are too lazy or don't care that they have run out of mix... all caveats as to just how crappy this place is.

Somehow, the 'chefs' seem to have the amazing ability to 'cook' a burger that is instantly cold within seconds of coming out.

Worse still, I am unsure how they managed it (as it appears they microwave their meat patties!) but I was served a partially raw meat patty in a burger!

If it was not so convenient at the time I would never have gone back but stupidly I did. The only staff member who seemed conscious and to possess more than a 2 digit IQ (a helpful girl who wears Muslim type head scarf) was actually quite apologetic and ensured I received a burger that was actually cooked - though to be honest I was pretty concerned I was going to be violently ill so couldn't eat more than a bit of the burger (which amazingly WAS hot for once).

The next time I went there I politely asked another staff member at the counter if they would not mind making sure my burger was hot (sorry for the inconvenience etc - I was very polite).

Out of what was obviously spite the burger I got was COLD, not just slightly warm, it was even colder than the usual crappy standard.

I swore to NEVER go back to this dump and I have stuck to that. This is the worst fast food place I have ever eaten at, with the most appalling standard of customer service.

I would rather eat dirt than give this horrible cesspit another...

30/11/2023 Had this tonight for dinner and it's my first time at that Hungry Jack's since I don't live near the area. I only went there to try tonight because it's near my work so I stopped by there after finishing work.

average food. I've had better hungry jacks.

the time I came they weren't even busy. But I went through to drive through and saw through the windows how the staffs worked.... Himalayan appearance not too sure if they're still Lankan, indian or Nepalese or Bangladeshi....but they're definitely from the Himalayas regions or surrounds. And seems like the girl that served me in drive through was of middle eastern appearance. They weren't busy, the girl of middle eastern appearance seems to know what she's doing, but I think they were slowed down by one staff member, a girl wearing glasses. I'm not sure if she's new but she did looked confused. It's understandable if she's new because of inexperience, which is normal. But as I said the time I went there it wasn't even busy and they can't deal with one customer at the counter and 3 cars in drive through. Service was extremely slow 🐌.

food was ok but should be hotter. The chips and burgers were ONLY luke-warm and the only hot thing I had was coffee. And even the coffee didn't have enough coffee flavour and I did ask for extra shot.

been to better HJs elsewhere, won't be coming back to Auburn one, sorry. But U did like the service of the middle eastern girl at the drive...
