Kashi- " The Eternal City"- The city of Light is said to to be more than 15,000 years old- the oldest inhabited city in the world. Home to 33 million gods and goddesses. 108 shrines with unique qualities were consecrated - and continues to live today. the Beloved city of Lord Shiva and his wife Parvati.

But the here unfolds a total contradiction and disaster on this side of the world with a restaurant bearing the name of a beautiful city.

For my Wife's Birthday ,On a cold rainy day - the 8th of December 2021, I paid $235.50 for two curries and a bit of Naan and rice with included smashed Poppadoms for $6.00

The owner claims to have been in business for ever yet his attitude towards me was very condescending and talks with a superiority complex. He made me feel as if it was my fault for the whole experience. The waiting time for food to be served is non reflective of any restaurant.

From Entree' to the mains it was a total disaster. Food wasn't seasoned. I sought eye contact with the waitress and this was avoided as she was busy with her Ipad/Iphone. Finally when she arrived and I humbly requested salt , it took her more than 5 minutes to bring that over. By then the Entree' was warm instead of hot.

It's very expensive. The pricing is atrocious and a huge let down. And the most annoying part is Quantity and Quality of the foods were very very low. We were better served elsewhere. Don't mind paying money if it's worth it, but I was really feeling very upset with all the foods, from starters to mains. I am most sure I will not be returning to this low lit restaurant which charges like a Taxi meter and dishes out pre-cooked food that is re-heated - that's how it felt since the meat dish was cold towards the bone.I paid $35.00 for this Goat dish and it was disappointing and blend. obviously we left it on the table upon our departure.

To add icing to the cake, or insult to injury , the owner offered free "Gulab Jamoon" to us as i left to pay, as a peace offering for my constructive complaint. I wasn't sold on the idea and I politely refused. I guess unscrupulous turpitude still exists this side of the Indian sub continent.

Whilst I am not in the habit of leaving reviews , I have been compelled to do so due to the arrogance and sheer bullish behavior of the owner. The audacity to charge such exorbitant prices and then label it as quality !!!. This bloke needs a reality check. he is so up himself.

Please avoid this establishment- complete rip offs and out of touch with...

We went to Kashi Indian Restaurant for the first time, booking lunch to celebrate my brother’s birthday. Sadly, the experience was far from what we hoped for.

We booked for 2:00 pm, only to get a call saying the kitchen shuts at 2:30 pm and we should come earlier. Why take bookings if you can’t serve guests properly at that time? Misleading and unprofessional.

When we arrived, the ambience and lighting looked nice, but the staff were dull, unwelcoming, and made us feel as though our presence was a burden. That lack of hospitality really stood out.

We were five people — myself, my wife, my brother (birthday boy), our 5-year-old, and a newborn. Entrees and drinks came on time. But the main courses only arrived at 2:25 pm, forcing us to rush through. The staff were in such a hurry to close that they even took one curry away before we could pack it into a takeaway container. On top of that, this is the first restaurant in Sydney where I have been charged 50 cents for each takeaway container, despite already high menu prices.

To make matters worse, there was even a cockroach on the ground and my little kid noticed it and asked staff to take it away. For a place that charges premium prices, even basic hygiene and attentiveness were lacking.

👉 What makes this worse is that these issues are not new. Looking at Google reviews from the last 5 years, customers have complained about the same problems: • Rude or unfriendly staff • Cold, unwelcoming service • Guests being rushed • Slow food delivery • Overpriced meals with little value

It’s obvious that management has received this feedback for years but done nothing to improve.

For us, while the food was fine and ambience looked okayish, the overall hospitality, hygiene, and customer care were completely missing. On what should have been a special birthday lunch, it was disappointing and stressful.

Unless they seriously change their service culture, I cannot...

Incompetent staff and over priced food

4 people at $242.50. Not worth the money.

We booked for a 5:30pm on a Sunday. We arrived and it took them 5minutes to greet us. The staff saw us and did not acknowledge that we were standing there. I had to call them over so we could be seated.

The service is beyond horrendous. No idea what they are doing. There seems to only be 1 person taking orders for food and drinks. We had ask 3 times to order drinks. The young Caucasian waitress was lovely. It is BYO and it was $4.50 per person. They did not have a decanter for the wine nor do they know how to open a wax sealed bottle of wine. It took them half an hour for someone to give us glasses for our own bottle of wine. We ended up opening the bottle of wine ourselves and they had no clue how.

We were not told about the set menu and had to ask the person who was taking of the orders if it was available as it was offered online. We ended up getting the non vegetarian set menu for $55.

There was nothing WOW about the set menu. Portion servings was good for the set menu. The Bhajia Chaat entree was drenched in sauce. The curries were average. Not a lot of meat in the curries. The rice and naan bread were average. The lady forgot our salad so we had to ask for it as it was included in the set menu.

We had to remind the waitress of the tea at the end. The tea is just from a tea bag, nothing special.

Food came out at a reasonable pace. The older lady was constantly clearing our table and asking if we were finished. It felt as if they were trying to push us out - the venue was half empty.

When you ask for the bill they direct you to the counter near the “wait to be seated sign”. We waited another 5 minutes to pay because they did not see us waiting to pay. The staff here are inept.

Toilets were clean....

We visited Kashi restaurant for dinner. Our initial reaction was one of disappointment. We wanted to have the “Banquet” menu but found out that it requires a minimum of 4 adults in the table ordering the banquet and we were just 2 adults and a child. Anyways, once the food started to arrive the disappointment faded away. Each and every dish we ordered was delicious and the spice level was as requested. The taste was similar to what you would get at a really good restaurant in India, very authentic. Only complaint I have is about the size of the servings. I felt it was 25% less than ideal and left me not as full as I would have been ordering similar dishes at any other restaurant. Also, not too much choice for both veg and non veg. The ambiance is average, nothing much to write about. Basic to the extent that it literally makes you feel you are in India! The staff could have been a bit more welcoming and courteous. The music was non existent. They had few other stuff like tea pots, tea, etc on sale. We went on a Wednesday and almost all of the 10 odd tables were occupied. Good to book your table before going. There was sufficient parking on campus. Bottom line - food is good, ignore the rest and enjoy!

If you are looking for a place around Annangrove for an Indian restaurant, this would be ideal. There are two parts for the following rateing that miss out on 5 stars in my opinion. 1. We arrived there at 1:30pm on a Saturday. The restaurant closes at 2:30pm. While I understand the shop closes at that time, you should not tell your patrons when walking in for the very 1st time "we close at 2:30pm" with a face that clearly shows that you are not welcome and that we/ the customer is a problem. This however is completely different when It came to the lady who I assume is the owner. She was all smiles, checked if the order was taken by the grumpy girl who initially served us. Checked again midway during our lunch if everything was good and if we were happy. She too must have been tired but she was refreshing oppose to the other who served. The girl must have wanted a tip but sadly that attitude won't help. 2. As many have voiced, the portions are limited. You can get double the portion size in other restaurants which I hope they address at some point. I do hope they look into the above. Apart from above, everything else was what you would expect from an authentic Indian restaurant 👌
