Mount Colah Pizzeria — Restaurant in Sydney

We have never felt less welcome at a restaurant! What happened to this once fantastic pizza place? The pizza is now mediocre at best, the restaurant looks run down and dirty and the staff are rude!

We had a 7pm dinner reservation for 5 people for grandma’s birthday dinner. It was a disaster!

When we arrived we were surprised to find the main restaurant room looking like a storage room with boxes, signs and additional furniture thrown on top of the dining tables.

The restaurant was in such a terrible state that we asked the staff, who seemed busy with take-away orders, whether they were actually open for dining- in. They confirmed they were open but made no effort to help us clear any of the tables.

So we moved boxes, excess chairs and other tables blocking access to set up one of the less cluttered tables with 5 chairs for us. The only other group of customers seemed to have done the same to their table, as they were equally surrounded by delivery boxes and tables upon tables.

Grandma had her heart set on the pizza she used to love, so we stayed and ordered some standard pizzas, pasta, a salad and drinks. When the food eventually arrived, half of the pizzas were already cold and not of the high standard Grandma remembered and many of our friends told us about.

Going with the terrible experience was the surcharge we were not made aware of. We had to pay 20% extra and were charged $11 for a bottle of Solo!

At first we thought there must have been a mistake, so we questioned the steep price for a bottle of soft drink and the overall difference in price to what was stated on their menu. However, the waiter told us the bill was correct and that they charged 20% extra for cutlery usage!!! At no point were we made aware of the surcharge. Never heard of cutlery surcharge!

We were too tired and disappointed at that point with the whole experience, and as the manager and waiter both insisted they had done nothing wrong, we just left. What disastrous birthday dinner!...

BY FAR the most delicous pizza and pasta in the Hornsby Area. It is under new management (4 weeks now) and considering I used to eat it here before and being completely honest- the food can’t be compared. This is our new family Resturant now and I can guarantee satisfaction for the whole family. Try it and thank me later!

As for the staff they were very welcoming and it was truly a beautiful experience. I ordered chicken fettuccine basciola and cannot recommend this enough . The garlic pizza was so delicous and the BBQ chicken was nothing less than AMAZING to eat.

The service was great and we didn’t have to wait for the food- as for one review claiming the complete opposite- I don’t believe you know what your talking about as 4 out 4 who dined there agreed that everything was AMAZINGLY DELICOUS! We couldn’t fault a single meal.

I guess you have nothing to lose by trying chefs food and you be the judge yourself but I amso glad we found our new family restaurant and I can’t recommend...

Hideous - quality is something of the past...

Rings the pizza place: “How long for pickup” Pizza place: “1/2 an hour” Go to the pizza place 1/2 hour later: “Your order isn’t ready yet” Waits 15min “Sorry your orders going in soon” Waits another 15mins “There’s a list in front of you yours should be done soon, It will just be another 5mins” Waits 5 more minuets “Here’s your order” 3/4 pizzas order are on the counter Me: “Sorry where’s the other pizza?”

“Oh I think that one got missed”

Me: “it’s all good, don’t worry about that one just refund it”

“Sorry we can’t do that until the manager is back”

keep the tip we’ll never be back. ps don’t use the fact that there is not much else around to strangle hold Colah & Kuring-Gai customers, if its going to be an hour just say it’s going to be an hour...

Dominos isn’t great but it’s on time and consistent ( consistently poor but still consistent), you could learn a lot from them about keeping...
