Unfortunately our second visit to The Ducks was nothing like our first. We bought our family vouchers to go after our first visit as we were so impressed. Yesterday, we were all disappointed with our meals (except the scallop main) and was unaware as no one wanted to upset each other around the table yesterday, otherwise I would have mentioned something. The steak was tough and inedible. At $52 plus a weekend surcharge (when only open weekends?) Was disappointing. The pork belly entree should probably be named something else as we were all served a very underwhelming warm thin slice of what looked like a bacon rasher. Not what was expected.
We love it here and hope to maybe come back as our first visit left us recommending this place to everyone.
The prawn salad was a massive bowl of mixed leaves and the off prawn or avo chunk and the southern fried chicken salad also very underwhelming this time :(
My 3/5 star review is taking into consideration how good our food was last time as Its hard to believe we ate at the same...
Read moreNice surroundings and fairly reasonable service. Though a bit casual. However the food was mediocre. The "herb encrusted" chicken schnitzel was just a crumbed schnitzel that had obviously gone from the freezer straight into the deep fryer. Sitting on some chips with an average salad. The quality was at local pub level. But prices were that of a fine dining restaurant. Entree was also very mediocre. Prawns were tiny, halloumi was dry and tough. Presentation was blah. Seriously average. Sorry guys. But you need to up your game in regards to the food if you're going to charge top dollar. Positive note, wine selection was ok.
FYI, I've traveled a lot and experienced many restaurants. Have been in hospitality all of my career and have worked with and experienced some of the worlds top chefs. I know food. My opinion is not subjective. You can rest assured it's very objective.
Hopefully your kitchen staff will consider the food a little more and put some love into it. Especially that schnitzel. Come on guys......
Read moreWe first visited some months ago and the food was amazing. We raved about it to anyone who would listen and a few that didnt, so we went back with our son and grandkids on Sunday. The same great atmosphere of course, but the food was definately down a few notches. Dont know if it was the Chefs day off, but My wife repeated her dish of Kingfish Sashimi and whist it was ok, the fish was cut more crudely [thicker].The special of Bugs and prawns on an asian salad was also ok, but the flavors were a bit disjointed, like it needed the dressing to bring it together. The Orange Roughy was cooked well enough but the rice was overcooked and the dish disappointing. Our 10yo did enjoy his spicy pork taco. Desserts of 2 affogato were fine, not much to go wrong there, but the topping of the creme Brulee was nearly 2-3mm thick. All in all a disappointing meal that was meant to be a great occassion. One that wont...
