A new wine bar opened up on Bruny Island this week, IZZY! Decided to try it for our last day after our month on Bruny. It was excellent.

A Chillian Chef Andrea and his partner Rosanne head the cooking. Selecting the pizza it had a very light base, prepared stretched and tossed in the air during making, to ensure correct aeration. We had the Proscuitto and the blue cheese topping. We loved both.

Selecting a white wine I chose a Sauv Blanc (Good God, What was I thinking?). Tasmanian, we enjoyed the bottle; fresh, crispy, lightly acidic with oak and citrus tones. ANIM was the name of the winery.

Certainly nothing like the grotesque Kiwi Sav Blanc that poison your pallete before you even get to taste!

Our Chillian dessert. 'Tres Leches' was next level good. A sponge cake soaked in 3 types of milk... Evaporative, condensed and heavy cream. It was brilliant!

Well done, Jenny and Phil on this new business venture. I expect extensions to the building by next summer as the authentic food, excellent wines and ambience created a fabulous casual dining experience.

With limited under cover area, I'm sure demand will see further undercover areas constructed as...

Oh My God. This is hands down the best place I have ever eaten, in my life. My partner and I booked in and I had to type a review in the car I was so impressed lol

To start off, the Staff are amazing!! They are such so sweet and very friendly. From the get go they were so welcoming and made you feel right at home. The venue it’s self, is GORGEOUS. The lighting was perfect. It was raining outside so staff made sure we were all out of rain and cozy. It was so perfect and warm I wanted to stay all night. The atmosphere inside and out, is breathtaking. The Food is out of this world (compliments to the chef) I had the seafood Board, my partner had a Pizza and both of us were too into the food to even talk lol. Amazing!! Now, the drinks. G&T was INSANE! Floral and beautiful. Highly recommend their punch aswell. Best drinks I’ve had on the Island. Thankyou to all the amazing staff at The Izzy. You are truly a hidden treasure and we’ll be making another trip to Bruny Island especially...

We were lucky enough to stumble across this on only their 5th day of service! It was amazing. What a wonderful (and much needed) addition to Bruny. A ton of care and thought has gone into every detail - everything (not just food but also plates, furniture etc) - locally made and sourced. It’s stylish yet low key and a great ambiance. Jenny and Phil were delightful, the Grazing board we had was beautifully presented, with a great variety of locally made offerings (I believe Jenny said the pickles were her grandmother’s recipe) and the pizzas were superb. (And all of us in the group have our own pizza ovens and frequently make pizzas and are often disappointed when we go out - not in this case!!) If you're planning a trip to Bruny, this is a must do. It is very small and when word gets out I’m sure they’ll be busy all the time so plan ahead and think...

The Izzy Bar is an absolute must for any trip to Bruny island. The service was so homely and welcoming and i genuinely believe their pizza is the best I have ever had.

I wrote:- ‘Lovely location, nice atmosphere, friendly host, but terribly overpriced bar snacks…$18 for 4 tiny tiny scewers👎’ And The Izzy Bar came back with this passive-aggressive response:- “Thank you for the feedback. We wish you the very best on your travels and hopefully you can find somewhere more suitable for your taste and budget. Cheers, The Izzy Bar.” Well, The Izzy Bar, it’s not a matter of budget, it’s a matter of value for money..and $18 for 4 tiny tiny toothpick size ‘skewers’ containing an olive and a tiny nugget of octopus is NOT value for money! Tourists would be well advised to take your advice and ‘find somewhere more suitable’ by driving a mere 5K further down the road to the stunning beachside pub at Alonnah where the food is great and for $18 you can get a feast👍
