On Australia Day, what better way is there to celebrate Australiana than having an Aussie Pie. I had heard of this location and was eager to try the pies here. After visiting many pie shops over the past several months, I was happy to find that the little pie shop had a great selection of, what appeared to be well made pies. Of course, the real test is in the taste. The flaky pastry was perfect and the size of the pie was impressive. Another nice aspect of the pies here is that the cost was nearly a dollar cheaper than most of the better pies I’d had recently. My first bite was an absolute joy. In this pie were REAL CHUNKS OF MEAT AND CARROT! Every possible facet of the perfect pie was present. The pastry had great flavour, the filling was chunky, while the gravy had an intense flavour, it wasn’t excessive. The ā€˜condiment to filling ratio’ was spot on! I had the Beef Burgundy pie and its flavour was exact and not artificially flavoured. To say I enjoyed it would be an understatement. Without a doubt, this was the best pie I’ve had in years. If you don’t visit this family run pie shop for an excellent pie soon, you are missing out. I, for one, will be coming here for my next pie!

Hi all i been back home few months after cycling around Australia. pies are sometimes the cheapest options in roadhouses or old town bakeries a long the way. some amzing pies and others not so great. I thought i would check out a local bakery Loop-line pies located in Thirlmere only hour drive SW of sydney. prices are great, good decent size and filled awesome pastry holds it in well with bice crunch to the edge. plain pies has some awesome chunky beef with little peppery flavour. 4/5 curry pies has propper strong curry flavour with some vegies added in defo enjoyed that as many curry pies around Australia you can barely tell it is even curry... 4/5 my favourite was definitely the pepper pies plenty of flavour from pepper corn but also chunky beef just the way i like it up there with Green head pies in WA. 4.5/5 i would give it 5 if it was a lot warmer. they have great selection of pies which ill be trying out in future love to see how the beef and kidney is or burgundy wine pie. also the doughnuts and tarts are great esp the lemon tarts. well worth the detour if heading south on weekender might even spot steam train operating šŸ‘šŸ˜Š.

Stopped by for two pies and some pastries on a day trip. Both pies had a very generous amount of meat but the pastry was below average, flavourless and stiff. Burgundy pie filling was quite nice but the kidney pie was genuinely inedible. Tasted extremely gamey/like an animal, could only have one bite which made me gag. I usually love organ meats and have never had such a bad experience. Even smelling the filling it had a somewhat wet dog scent. Surprised as it seems Viet run and usually Viet dishes do organ meat very cleanly. Hoping it was a one-off quality control issue. Donut was average and strawberry pie was quite nice. No problems with service.

Folks here are friendly and flavour of filling is decent but there are issues with the pastry - it was undercooked, as if par-cooked for me, two different flavours of pie, and then sitting on the warmer I ate it right after receiving it but it was soggy along the sides and bottom, not anything like other reviews here have reported in times gone by. While the size was big there is a big gap between filling and top crust, not like some of the photos which go back a few years, so the ratio of crust to filling was not great when I went. I would prefer they tighten up the dimensions and keep the same amount of filling, not sure if the sagging and everything else is just the staff having a bad day or if there were other issues, I'll leave it at 3 stars which is arguably a bit generous but leaves room for benefit of the doubt. My calibration is that I love my pies, eat pies on every road trip where I can, and had two decent pies before this for breakfast on the same day and was still in the mood for another pie, so was very eager to try the pies here having put it on the list and added over 20km beyond my regular driving route back to Sydney...
