Me and my family along with our friends spent 4 days in Timboon. It was a very good experience except for the rude staff we met at Berry world on one of the days.
I can understand delays with staff shortages, but appalling attitude and general lack of cleanliness is unacceptable in my opinion.
We placed orders for lunch and waited more than 15 minutes and none of the staff came to the table to clean the plates and Serveattes /napkins left by previous customers. When I finally decided to ask the staff at the counter to clean the table, she said, ‘We are too busy’. Seems very unacceptable me - cleanliness should be part of the service they provide and not an after thought. The lady at the counter told me to speak to the manager if getting the table cleaned was my priority. Who operates this way?
5 minutes later another staff told us that they ran out of gas! They could not tell us when we would get our orders! Ok, such things can happen and may be out of control of the staff present. So, we decided to wait for 10 minutes and see if they would get things in order or not. Else, we would leave. I asked the staff if we could get a plate and a spoon so we could feed something for our 8 month old daughter. The reply to this simple request is what has prompted me to put this review. The response from the staff was - ‘ I have many things to do’. How much time is needed to handover a plate and a spoon to a customer who has been waiting for 20 minutes without even a certainty that food will actually be served.
With this kind of an attitude, I do not understand how this place has such a decent rating. We obviously did not have the best experience. 10 minutes later we cancelled our order and left without feeding the little one. We went to the car and fed her and then went to another place for lunch.
When we left, a staff did apologize- she identified herself as the daughter of the owner. Too little too late. A truly forgetful experience for all of us; but could and should have been managed better by the staff. Staff shortage should not be an excuse for such...

My family and I were on our way back from the 12 apostles and were looking for a quick dinner to eat before it got too dark. I must admit that we weren’t expecting the food to be that great based off the fact that it was in a small town but we were obviously wrong. Apart from the quiet and picturesque farm that this establishment sits on, the food was amazing, even as I’m writing this now I can’t think of a word or phrase to describe how surprised I was at the amazing quality of the food.
Food aside, the strawberry picking experience is a must. As the strawberries are in season, naturally, they were delicious.
The vibe of the restaurant was great, being Christmas season, there was Christmas music playing and décor to go along with it. The ambiance of the outdoor farm and the quiet town that this restaurant is in mixed together to create a real cozy and warm feel.
The staff and owner were especially friendly and most accommodating. Apart from the fact that unlike a lot of restaurants out there, the owner does not mind working with and working the same jobs as the staff, i.e cleaning tables and serving dishes, the owner is also very, very friendly, inviting my family to come and pick some strawberries and giving us some chocolate dipped strawberries as a kind gesture.
I was a bit puzzled at how such a small town could have such authentic and delicious Thai food, that is when I learned that the owner has worked with her Thai friends to do so. To be honest, the food here is at par, if not better than the Thai food you can get in the big cities, and coming here from Singapore, where there are countless authentic Thai places, I can confidently say that this is among the best of them.
There was a little dog, called mocha, who was very, very sweet and playing with him made my day 😁
I must say that throughout this experience the amount of care that the staff and owner had put into this restaurant and farm was visible and commendable. If I ever return to Australia, I would most definitely like to...
Read moreArrived exactly at 9:58pm but were refused to be served while their website mentioned they are open until 11pm. We were offered if we wanted take away but we preferred to sit specially when the website mentioned that they will cater. We had one disabled and one child so would not have been comfortable.
Need to update their website so people don't bother dropping in if you are after late dinner on your way back from 12 apostles. This isn't worth it.
Response to owner: Thanks for your reply. It actually confirms the level of customer service you offer.
Despite the irrelevance, you assumed that we tried every other restaurant before yours is actually untrue as we were driving back after watching penguin walk around 9:30pm at London Bridge after sunset as we saw your opening hours around 8ish and came straight to yours reading 'positive' reviews.
For your kind information, I told your staff that we are 5 people and it will be very difficult to eat in car but was immediately interrupted to tell that dining area has been cleaned out and no guests can be accommodated. Given the very 'polite' communication skills of your staff, there was no further conversation except for fuel confirmation which any car can run out after driving 6 hours all up from Melbourne to see Great Ocean Road up until London Bridge (again no relevance but since you commented)
Even if we are poor planners, blah blah, the only feedback important for your restaurant is to simply mention 'Take away only after 9pm' so that people don't think they will be allowed to dine in, customers may have different needs. Your customers rely on hours you mention online. What you responded here needs to be updated...
