With limited dining options around Tomakin we decided to give this a go based on some of the reviews. I don't know how anyone could score this place 5 stars, at best it barely scrapes in for 2 and that's based on the service which was friendly, attentive and helpful. Ordered the steak burger which was absolutely enormous but I'd gladly trade the size for better quality and preparation. Steak was chewy, bacon was undercooked, anaemic and unappetising, salad toppings were below average and the bun, although toasted, was stone cold. Sauces missing in action. It's not hard to make a decent burger but Dan failed miserably and at $22 it's highway robbery. Message to Dan: size is no substitute for quality. If any place needs a Gordon Ramsay makeover it's this.

Response to Dan: I've deleted some of the material that offends you but the rest of my review stands. Despite your insistence on quality, your restaurant is only as good as the last meal you served. If you can't get it right the first time why would I send it back and ask for another? And one more thing Dan, if you think you're getting rave reviews then have a look around on other review sites eg. Tripadvisor and you might get a clearer picture of the public's opinion of your restaurant. You're fooling yourself.

2nd response to Dan: and that's exactly the response I...

Booked a table for our anniversary. Looking forward to some BBQ. On arrival found that we had to scan a QR code from the menu to order. OK not in my comfort zone but if that's the way it is. On reaching the link, had to upload credit card details. Again not comfortable with this. After 5+ attempts, card was unable to be accepted. Tried with wife's card, same result. Tried to order from the wait staff was told that they don't take orders that way and I should go outside to the take away windows and order there. Not what I wanted to do after booking a table. As we were leaving, we spoke with a number of other patrons who had similar experiences. One person they tried to charge twice for an item that was already paid for on line. Stories of food paid for and not arriving, or being charged twice abound. Needless to say we left, not having eaten anything. And we will not be back. To add insult to injury, a couple of days later, upon doing a review of my bank account online, found that my card was compromised, a scammer had attempted to take money. I had to cancel my card. Most inconvenient. If you have eaten here in the past, check the charges on your accounts to ensure you haven't been scammed. The worst thing is, management are aware of the issues with this ordering system, but...

Do not eat here if you have a food allergy. My young son is allergic to egg. I informed the inside bar lady. She said order outside and let them know. Did that but when I asked if the pizza contained any egg, the girl said, "Uh maybe on the cheese sauce, I dunno." So I asked if she could confirm with the chef and she came back and said, "There's no egg on that pizza."

Now when I come back to pick up the pizza from the kitchen staff, it has a mayo-looking cheese sauce on it. So I asked the young fella handing me the pizza, "does the cheese sauce have egg?" and again, got a no.

Still a bit worried, my husband decides to check the cheese sauce ingredients that we happened to notice for sale on a nearby counter as we came to collect our food. And you know where this story is going - yes, there's egg in it.

Informed the original bar lady and she was brilliant, getting a new pizza made up straight away. But if we hadn't tripled checked, my son would have had an allergic reaction. The staff really didn't seem to care (except for the bar lady). Very disappointing as the food was lovely (once we'd determined it was safe...

$16 for just 6 of these dried up, chewy, shriveled, tiny things.. The wings and pizza flavours are good but the quantity of toppings is less than cheap chain competition and that makes these prices are completely absurd, and the menu prices just increased again! The online order price for the vege pizza is $29 now (almost 30% more than the $22 price we paid just a couple of months ago when we last ordered). Management being locals or not, no-one should be getting away with that. Us Tomakin/Broulee locals are fed up, it's common conversation now, and it's also coming up in reviews now. Dan's is a joke, don't go there. Edit: as expected their response is the usual customer should have X and we can't do anything about the menu, it's standard. Look we can buy frozen calamari from the local co-op 3x the quality of this for less than you charge for 6 and get a bag of more than 30 rings, it's not the prices, it's the value for what you get. Im happy to pay more and get better than the chains and frozen options

It's our first time in Tomakin, and we are staying at the resort next door. The place has a nice aesthetic. As you enter, you're greeted by a smoky scent from the barbecue and pleasant background music. We ordered our food through a QR code, and it arrived quickly. Our steaks came out first, before the entrees. I was initially concerned that my steak, which looked medium, wasn't rare. However, it turned out to be fine. The other orders followed shortly after: the sweet potato and the calamari. The sweet potato was supposed to come with aioli, which we had ordered as an extra. If we hadn't inquired about it, I doubt it would have been included. As we started eating, we found everything to be quite salty, and the Diane sauce was overly sour. Since we are only passing through this town, we’re unsure if we’ll stop by again in the future. I'm hoping their breakfast will be better.

Smokey Dan's in Tomakin have a great service, and the staff is helpful and friendly. Come with an empty stomach, their food is massive and delicious πŸ˜‹. Can order burgers πŸ”, pizzas πŸ•,garlic bread 🍞,chipss 🍟 small to large πŸ˜‹, and many more delicious meals. They look after the Children meals πŸ˜‹, also forvegetariann andgluten-freee. Smokey Dan's will have specialmeals for yo that you ordered πŸ˜‰. Today at Tomakin is warm and sunny 🌞, we sit back of the Smokey Dan's, in the beer 🍺 garden πŸ˜€. It is also dog πŸ• friendly in the garden πŸ˜€. All the family were here special, half of my family came from Europe. They love the food at the restaurant πŸ˜‹, like fish 🐟 and chips, hamburger πŸ” rolls. The first time at the Smokey Dan's, to taste first-time Australia food πŸ˜‹.
