Given all the previous unprecedented fiascos, Jarrathy and I had to make a bee line for sunny Melbourne. It was more than a 1 day drive, so the decision had to be made as to where we would camp. I use the term "decision" lightly because even though I asked for input, and I also wanted to go on a golf buggy shiv fest, I had decided we were staying at a pub. The only question was which one. Cross Roads Hotel was conveniently located and looked like the kinda thing I could get behind. We rolled in, dusty and deflated, and went straight for a schoon. I enquired about rolling out our swags in the backyard, and Ol mat Daz (the publican) informed me there was plenty of room out back, and there are toilets and showers available for campers. The shower was great! Hot, with the kind of old school pressure that can wash away the worst of your sins. A few schoons down and chatting to some friendly locals it was time for a parma. (Before you get all indignant about the word, I'm from Victoria, I'm never gonna call it a parmi. Put the gun down) For you fools who weirdly follow my adventures on here, you know I have the qualifications when I declare this a top shelf feed. Ben and the kitchen crew have taken their task with the greatest of seriousness and produced a culinary masterpiece. A few more cups of courage, a bit of back and forward banter, and it was time to be shooed out the door for some shut-eye. I had a brilliant time at the Cross Roads. A welcoming, affordable, authentic, and traditional Aussie pub. Big town pubs take note, this is what it's all about. P.s. I know I promised you a 6000 word review Daz, but I'm neither a qualified author nor mathematician. Cheers for the umbrella

What a great little pub! My local riding group has a monthly meeting, and we always support our central west communities by dropping in, having a meal, but more importantly, enjoying a couple of beers. Very family friendly, with plenty of space for the kids run around, and it's just a nice relaxing place to go!

Good to see a country pub building itself up. Park out the back for free/ or $15 power. Have a great meal and a drink or two 🤣in time it will be a sort out place to stay. Very Affordable.

We stopped in for an overnight camp stay whilst on a long road trip.

The area out the back is big with space for quite a few caravans.

We were greeted by a very friendly barman (so sorry but we didn’t get your name) who was busy but made time for a conversation.

Drinks were cold and well priced.

We also had dinner here. The Parma was great. Not too big, and cooked to perfection. My husband had the beef schnitzel which he thoroughly enjoyed.

Is the hotel pretty? No. Does it have atmosphere and friendly staff and locals? Absolutely.

I would highly recommend Cross Roads Hotel to anyone with a caravan/camper who wants some good, old fashioned...

Great genuine little pub, careful though blink and you'll miss it. Came in late driving back from Qld, inwhich I was still on Qld time and hadn't set things an hour forward, but they still made me up a nice meal for dinner. Was offered a shower if wanted-as had been in the truck the prior 10hrs in 40deg heat, but I just ate under the AC, bit of a rest, good conversation with the locals and I was able to hit the road continuing on to Melbourne. Thank you...
