Went up to order a meal. Ordered the Hawaiian burger, asked what the combo came with, was told chips and a can, said yes I will have that. Double checked that it came with a can after I paid, was told yes. So there was no doubt I'd ordered a combo. My meal came out without chips, I asked the waitress was the combo meant to come with chips, she said yes didn't you get them? She went back in to find out what happened, she comes back out and tells me I didn't pay for the combo, it's not on the docket and I'll have to go back to the counter to sort it out. I pull up my bank app to check if I'd paid for the combo, I had in fact paid for the combo. I told the waitress this. She goes back in and comes out with the chips and says here's your chips but also felt the need to remind me that I apparently didn't pay for the combo. I said yes I did and tried to show her the transaction. She walked off without looking at the amount I paid and said in a very defensive tone, well you've got your chips now as if to imply it's somehow my fault. I wasn't trying to tell her off, I just wanted to show her that I'd paid for it. I didn't like being accused of being given something I hadn't paid for. I paid $24, $16 for the burger combo + $8 for a kids meal. Even if I hadn't paid for the combo, which I 100% know I did, I still wouldn't of been at fault because I definetly ordered it. Obviously, what happened is the server at the counter only wrote down the burger but charged me for a combo, an understandable mistake, what I didn't appreciate was the way I was treated. It made me feel awful that I was being accused of wanting something that I hadn't ordered...
Read moreFantastic sunset views! Thank you for staying open til just past 8pm during the summer so we can enjoy the sunset view on the river.
The fish and chips is crunchy and fresh! I also highly recommend their calamari ring too.
Service was friendly and timely. Wish they would give us complimentary sauces and not charge for it though - seems a little un-Aussie to me. Also, it would be nice to have vinegar on the side as complimentary addition when people order seafood/fish and chips. C'mon, great authentic fish and chips experience need the vinegar ;)
I'm so glad that there are signs which says don't feed the seagulls as there were moments when I felt like the seagulls would want to sit at the table we are eating at, to take a bite from our food. (We really shouldn't feed the wild at outdoor or alfresco restaurants! Sydney cafes and restaurants, especially Sydney seafood fish market- please take notes.)
Unfortunately, I didn't see any fresh oysters sold at this boatshed compared to other boatshed/riverside cafes.
I did appreciate it having a little donation box from the Commonwealth Bank of Australia to raise funds for the much needed Moruya hospital. Good cause!
Nonetheless, I'd still rate this place a 5 out of 5 because hurray for still opening just past 8pm, good service, delicious fresh seafood!
I'll definitely recommend everyone to check out this place at sunset. So so so worth the drive...
Read moreIt’s always worth taking the time for a slight detour off the Princes Highway to visit the Tuross Boatshed and Cafe, for fish and chips on the waterside deck. Perfect location at any time of year. Picture postcard setting with great views over Tuross Lake.
Today we ordered a Boatshed Feed for $22.50 and shared this between two people. This included 2 x small portions of battered white fish that was succulent and fresh, 2 x battered processed seafood sticks, 2 x prawns in breadcrumbs (crisp on the outside and just cooked to perfection on the inside), 2 x breaded calamari that was tender and melted in the mouth, and a serve of processed chips - crisp on the outside and piping hot.
They also serve soft drinks, tea, coffee, hot chocolate, milk shakes and alcoholic beverages, including a selection of...
