Bendigo District RSL — Restaurant in Victoria

Arriving for a meal I was excited it had been along time since I had been here and heard so many positive things about the meals.. I ordered a garlic bread with cheese it looked amazing. Off to a good start..maybe not..I took a bite for only to be amazed that it was near frozen cold in centre..I returned to which another arrived..didn't quite look as good as the first but it was warm guess you can't have everything. Then my Parma .With chips and salad was brought out it looked appealing but there was some type of dressing over my salad which I would have preferred to have added myself .Chips very salty..again ....I would not have placed salt on my meal.. far to much sauce and cheese was dry and schnitzel although being a breast is probably the reason it earned an extra star...left more on my plate than I ate. For the$$ of the meal..couldn't justify it being a place I would return to for a meal. Although it was Parma night only benefit being if your a member. I got charged $37 for a Parma. Garlic bread and some gravy. No free drink I had to pay for the coke.. It was pointed out to waiting staff that my meal was hardly touched due to dissatisfaction ....waitress who kindly said she would...

I used to love going to the RSL for a meal as it was always good value and a decent feed. Gone are those days!

Upon dining there for a family get together last Friday, i found myself very disappointed.

The menu prices have gone through the roof.... i used to love a good old steak sandwich, but i refuse to pay $29 for it. That's a bit rich.

The meals we ended up getting were nice enough, but we were disappointed when our group of 5 started receiving our orders. The first meal came out and after another 23 minutes we asked the waitress where the rest of our meals were. Nobody bothered to come back to the table and advise us anything. Around 10 minutes later the rest of our orders slowly made their way out to our group. It was really sad to not be able to share a meal "together" as the first meal would have been stone cold by the time the rest of the meals came out, so they had well and truly finished by the time the rest of our...

Fairly flashy building after renovations, but that's where the highlights end.

We were taken to our table by a young waitresses who never smiled the entire time, said "there you go" and walked off without telling us where to order and leaving us with one menu between two people - great start!

Next no no was when our entree of garlic bread was served with the main meal.

I ordered fish and chips, expecting some freshly battered pieces of fresh fish-WRONG! What I got was 3 small fingers of frozen fish that you get in the supermarket. It looked and tasted exactly the same. Definitely wasn't fresh. My partner ordered fisherman's basket, which was also awful. Meal sizes are small for price.

When serving meals, our waitress announced "fisherman's basket - or whatever it is". service was sorely lacking with this girl.

Will never go back. Also offputting were the bogans in tracksuit pants. Please introduce...
