Oh boy, here we go. I would sum up our experience here in one word - sad.
The only saving grace in this situation was the snow, which had nothing to do with the long waits, inefficiencies, and poor customer service. Let’s start by saying that inside was chaotic. It was busy, which was fair enough considering it was a snow day. But the lack of seating and space meant that there was little order to the eating experience here. Fair enough, it’s not a fancy cafe or restaurant, but basic logic suggests that having a decent atmosphere makes people enjoy their experience more. This was clearly not a consideration. Anyway. While waiting 40 minutes in line, the menu availability dropped off, with chips, hot dogs and sandwiches no longer an option.
The front lady had a mild attitude problem whenever anybody asked about availability too - if it pains you that much, then just cross the item off the menu so we can see in advance. So we changed our original order to two sausage rolls with tomato sauce and two mochas, being told that ‘there would be a wait’ on the sausage rolls. Bear in mind we had already waited 40 minutes. We waited a further 5 minutes for our Mochas - now also remember at this point nobody else is getting served as the front lady was making out coffees. At least have one other staff member to prepare coffees and help in the kitchen. Once we received our drinks, we tasted the first sip and were disgusted at the vague blend of dirty coffee, weak chocolate taste and strangely frothed milk.
At this point we were beyond disappointed. We knew things didn’t move at the usual pace here so we went outside and waited in the snow for 10 minutes, drinking the aforementioned coffee dirt thing we got given. After returning inside, we waited a further 10 minutes. Now let’s talk about the horror in the kitchen, which was staffed by one man who had zero diligence in his food preparation abilities, and although he was a nice enough man who meant well, his inadequacies resulted in two undercooked sausage rolls with, wait for it, tomato sauce squeezed from the bottle INTO THE SAUSAGE ROLL PACKET. It was laughable. He did this while gently remarking ‘Aussies love their sauce haha’. The irony. Not to mention he also handed the sausage rolls to us warning that ‘they’re not as hot as normal but they’ll be good enough’. Lol. We regretfully ate our food - thankfully we haven’t gotten food poisoning yet.
I’m really not sure how the average rating here is 4 stars. It should be 0. Do not eat here. Do not do anything here (except perhaps hire toboggan equipment). Bring your own food or drive down the mountain to one of the many actually good restaurants or cafes available in the alpine region. Your stomach, patience and sanity will thank you...

We visited here on a Saturday afternoon in the June/July school holidays and found the cafe to be understaffed with long waits of 40minutes for orders of hot chips and nachos. Spent $40 on 2x potato cakes, 2 x chips, 1 x nachos and a bottle of water. Although there was a staircase with signage to more seating upstairs this was blocked off by boards and not enough tables and chairs downstairs to cater for all even though there was plenty of space for more. Clean toilet and change room facilities....
Read moreAlways worth a visit to grab a coffee at a minimum and catch up with Keith & Co. Great family friendly spot that is the opposite of what you find at any of the other Alpine Ski Resorts. It’s not a resort but it’s the place you 100% want to take the kids or family to experience snow. Keith and the crew get what it’s all about and it’s not about gouging the dollars from tourists. Ain’t to many places like this left and ain’t no where like it...
