Had an open mind when selecting this restaurant - thinking it looked quite nice and the reviews were good. Unfortunately the food was very disappointing and the kitchen staff were a little inexperienced. We ordered the chicken satay and calamari to start. The calamari ws OK but obviously pre-made and reheated. The Skewers however were either frozen or stored together as 2 of the skewers were still stuck together when they arrived. Obviously these hadn’t been turned on any grill and had to be physically pulled apart. We thought that potentially they might not be cooked all the way through so we never ate them. Mains were slightly better Butter chicken - was tasty but obviously not fresh made ($34... ) it was incredibley hot in the middle of the meal suggesting it had been microwaved. The poppadom was a small microwave version broken in half and was not edible. Rice was ok. I had the beef (on special) it was actually OK - the only issue was for $38 i was expecting a decent portion. This was more like a starter sized portion less than 100g. The highlight of the meal was the chips. They were coated in something and they were actually nice.

The venue was not too busy but there were food stuff all over the floor from previous diners which hadnt been cleaned up. There was a trivia quizz next door whch was quite loud. A group next to our table had all their main courses arrive before their starters and the kitchen staff just said we bring when ready. luckily we said we want ours as a starter not 'when ready'.

Mentioned about the skewers and poppadom to the staff - they werent too interested and still charged full price for them. Would not go again.

Shout out to the bar staff as they were very nice and accommodating just not able to help with the quality of the food. Summarise - charging fine dining prices giving cafe...

My rating is 0 for the terrible experience we had. I called on Monday morning to book for my son’s birthday and our wedding anniversary for Wednesday evening but didn’t receive a confirmation sms, so I called again Tue morning (lucky I did as the booking was not made), I was able to make a booking this time. Our dinner was for 5pm but without calling me first the sms confirmation changed to 4:30pm. I called again to confirm for 5pm. Then on Wednesday afternoon, 2 hrs before our dinner, a lady calls to try change or cancel our booking so they can accommodate a larger group. It was very late to make alternative arrangements and we didn’t want to rush for our special occasion, we had bought cakes etc already. We were very lucky to book a last minute spot with Salt Water where we had a fantastic time and received excellent service from very helpful staff. In contrast, the type of conduct from Flametree is completely unprofessional and caused unnecessary...

Met a friend for a quick meal. The food was nicely prepared and very yummy. I had the arancini & seared broccoli as a side. I ordered a soda lime & bitters with no ice. The drink didn't come. They weren't busy and there were three or four Staff on. Half way through the meal I asked a Staff member to come over and someone indicated they wouldn't be long. No-one came. Near the end of the meal I tried again to no avail. After finishing my meal I got up and went to the desk and told them I had finished eating and still had no drink despite my attempts. I asked the young woman serving me whether she remembered what I'd ordered. She said yes. Finally, half an hour after ordering it, I received my drink - with ice (which I had not ordered). It was disappointing and I said that I shouldn't have to pay for it....and they didn't charge me. I don't know what was going on as they seemed on track making drinks for other patrons .. and my friend had hers...

We had a wonderful dining experience at the Flame Tree Restaurant. The food was excellent. I had the lamb to start and the beef as my main – both were cooked beautifully and full of flavour. My partner had the cauliflower followed by the spaghetti with prawn and lobster, which she also enjoyed. Just a quick note: the spaghetti dish was quite spicy, so something to be mindful of for those who may prefer milder flavours. A special shoutout to Jocelyne, our waiter, who truly made the experience even better. We arrived just after 3 PM (with the restaurant closing at 4), and she welcomed us with a big smile, making us feel very comfortable. She was incredibly kind, offered great service, and even gave us helpful tips for our trip around the island. Highly recommend this place – tasty food, beautiful setting, and genuinely warm service!

Tomato mussels toast came with the burnt side hidden, and the sauce overpoweringly salty that I had to to send the entire dish back. Common sense would dictate that they would rush the replacement dish but by the time it came everyone else had already finished their meals. It was extremely extremely disappointing and not worth the price and anguish of waiting for the replacement dish. When the replacement dish it pretty much fell flat, wasn't delicious unlike many of the better options we had while around Phillip Island, or at Melbourne. Service staff unsure where menu options are in their point of sales system, and did not ask for doneness of steak. Would avoid given the poor quality. A pity given it's a restaurant located within a hotel. No discount or goodwill or apology was tendered at the end of the meal.

Down visiting family on the island and wanted to try out the restaurant. We rang late afternoon to book a table for 4 and despite the restaurant being nearly at capacity they kindly swapped a few things around to get us in that night. It was a very cold night but the fireplace made it inviting, warm & cozy. Friendly and happy staff provided great service. From their cocktails to their meals everything was perfect! Arancini balls were flavoursome and the calamari were fresh & melted in your mouth. Both steaks were cooked to perfection as per guests requests. Only side note was the menu listed on their website isn’t the exact current menu (was looking out for the chicken bao). We were very impressed with all the meals & will definitely be back. Thanks for the great service Flametrees team!
