An incredibly average experience; with a staff (whom I wouldn't describe as friendly) and their lack of dairy free options.
Some will find it comforting that the staff at Fork N Flower are still checking vaccination certificates. Which I do find impressive as many other cafes have given up by now. But I do not appreciate the nasty looks we where given when we greeted the new arrivals before they showed their certificate. As a waitress myself, I understand that this can make it confusing and be a little annoying for staff, but if the they aren't going to wear their masks properly (if at all) then I don't think you can judge us for wanting to say hello to family we haven't seen in a while before checking-in. It didn't get much better; the staff weren't friendly at any stage of our experience.
We had a few coffees with our breakfast. My soy chai latte just tasted like soy, and didn't get any enthusiasm from around the table regarding the coffee.
Same goes for the breakfast. I had the big breakfast, which refreshingly wasn't ridiculously big. The eggs and hash weren't seasoned enough; I know some places like the leave it so that customers can season to there liking. But it seems like a bit of a lazy trend to me. My family gave me averagely average remarks regarding the eggs benedict and granola as well (though to be fair I wouldn't expect granola to knock your socks off or anything).
My biggest complaint of the morning was that the dairy free options weren't marked on the menu. In fact the only true dairy free option for breakfast was the eggs on toast. I had to ask about a few different options before dissappointed I settled on the big breakfast; without mushrooms because they are cooked in butter.
Over all it was averagely average. A little disappointing considering all the good things I've heard about it. I might give it another try if I'm ever going past and in need...
Read moreWe were greeted by really unhappy staff who directed us to our table.
We ordered a round of drinks, which one drink didn't even make it.
We had to ask for our meal order to be taken, which seemed like a hassle for them.
5 of us ordered at 1pm, at 2:10pm we wondered where our food was. We knew they were busy so we were being patient.
A young guy came out and apologised and said the food was forgotten and that they would make it for us.
When the waitress dropped our food off she said there will be a discount. When I went to pay, I mentioned this and the manager got angry and said "this is not something we would do, but just do it", they then removed $20 off the bill.
We weren't checked on once, despite being the only table not eating in the restaurant. The waitress walked past us constantly and didn't take the time to look and realise that we weren't being served.
I can sympathise when businesses are low on staff, which they didn't appear to be. But if you make a mistake, and keep people waiting for 1.5hrs for food, then at the very least you could just be nice to them.
There was one staff member who was nice. The other 3 front of house staff were actively rude.
There's a sign at the counter saying "the whole world is short staffed, please be nice". I think that rule should apply back to your customers, not be an excuse to be rude to people who are paying money to be there.
This was father's day lunch, and Fork and Flower made it a very ordinary event. Won't be...
Read moreI have NEVER had a worst experience at a Cafe. Upon arrival My Elderly grandmother, Mother and 14 year old sisters were screamed out to not move any further and wait right there with no context. Naturally we were confused by this response as we had checked in on the Services Australia app and had our ID out ready to show them. We had showed our ID to a waitress and went to sit down, to our shock the first lady behind the coffee machine came up to my sisters and yelled at them for not waiting and not showing their ID, I tried to explain to her that they are 14 and do not have identification to show. She accused us of trying to get her shut down and walked off. A different waitress came to take our order, we expressed that we were shocked with the tone we were spoken too and apologized for any confusion but don't appreciate being treated like that as paying customers. The waitress then told us that she was told that if we brought the matter up again we would be have to be asked to leave, in which we did with no hesitation. I like to reiterate I have never had an experience like this before. It is disappointing that cafe has been shut down for most part of the year and just lost a huge bill and paying customers forever. Hopefully no other customer's have had to experience this woman's bizarre behavior, but I get the feeling this may not have been the first time customers have been...
