If your schedule or budget only allows you one night out to eat, make sure to eat out at Jack Frost! We walked for an hour checking out every restaurant on Hotham's peak, looking at price and menu options, and this was the winner for us. The quality of the food and decor is excellent all around. The friendly staff are so kind and efficient. We truly weren't expecting a restaurant on the mountain to feel like a nice Melbourne restaurant. We found the prices to be reasonable, for both food and drinks, on par with what you would pay at non pretentious restaurants and upscale pubs in off-mountain cities. My husband and I went for dinner on a Saturday during high season and had a great time. Stef, our server has perfected the balance of checking in and letting us sit and enjoy our time and meal. The team went above and beyond when we wanted one more drink but the table needed to be flipped for the next booking, shout out everyone! Bar staff made the most amazing cocktails and the kitchen out did themselves with the perfect shareable plates, the glazed carrots are my newest obsession and I’ll be doing my best to replicate them at home. This place was quite good with a few things that could be improved. The service was friendly, but a bit slow. When it comes to the drinks I have to say the drinks were excellent. Make sure you try their version of Irish cream, it is delicious! The reason I'm giving them 3 stars instead of 4 is the value. Their dishes were generally yummy and presented well but they were very very expensive for what you got. My pork belly was nice but small for the price and there wasn't any crackling, my husband's beef cheek was well cooked but was a bit tasteless and the mashed potato wasn't very nice texture-wise.
