🍞 House Baked Ciabatta Roll, Parmesan Butter 🌽 Corn and Manchego Croquette 🔴 Heirloom Beetroot, Cashew Almond Cream 🐓 Roasted Chicken Breast, Charred Spring Greens 🐑 Lamb Backstrap, Cauliflower Cream, Asparagus 🥔 Triple Cooked Potatoes 🥕 Roasted Carrots, Cumin Yoghurt 🍫 Chocolate Raspberry Jelly Tart 🍋 Lemon Myrtle Tart Just 90 minutes out of Melbourne is Mitchelton Estate and their on-site restaurant The Muse. It is inspired by fresh local produce throughout the Nagambie Lakes district and their own kitchen garden, delivering a modern farmhouse style dishes. 🧑🏼‍🌾 The venue is stunning - a grand, light filled, rustic setting where you can enjoy breakfast, lunch or dinner overlooking the banks of the Goulburn River. I was invited to enjoy a tasting of their Spring Menu, a shared selection of some of their best dishes and of course some wine! 🍷 For entrées we enjoyed the thinly sliced Beetroot which was very refreshing but the super creamy Corn and Manchego Croquette was one of the dishes of the day! The Roast Chicken was so incredibly soft and moist but could have done with more flavour, as could the carrots. 🥕 The Lamb Backstrap was seared perfectly and so tender, another favourite dish for me. Considering the potatoes were triple cooked I did wish they had more of a crunch to them. Out of the two tarts I preferred the Chocolate Raspberry, filled with a very light mousse with a crisp base. 👌🏽 Beautiful lunch in a beautiful setting, I have a stay coming up very soon so keep your eyes peeled for a review on their accomodation and definitely another visit to The Muse to try more of the menu.

I don’t normally like wineries because I’m not a big drinker but was pleasantly surprised with my weekend stay. We had a table of 10 for dinner and breakfast and had no issues. We started at 8 but for the amount of food we ordered everything arrived within 30 mins of ordering. We had the school prawns, lamb ribs, sweet corn ribs and yabbie dumplings to start. Followed by chicken, hanger steak, pork belly, trout, goat and salads for mains. We shared everything so we were not fussy about how/when the food arrived. Steaks were correctly cooked to order and everyone loved all the dishes. The nagambee honey parfait was the winner out of the deserts so much so there wasn’t enough to share as we ordered 3 between our group.

Went for lunch recently and i am so sad to say that it was quite disappointing.

Service was what let it down, it was practically non-existent. We were put into the mezzanine and after an pleasing welcome, overview of the menu and order taking, our waiter disappeared into thin air and was never seen again. From then it felt like they forgot we were up there, and we had to constantly go down stairs and ask for things we needed. The mezzanine also lacks air-conditioning and/or a fan, and we were literally sweating half way through our lunch. When i raised the issue, i was told there was nothing they could do.

With regards to the meal, the starters were pretty good but our mains were average. We were served a slab of pork that was practically inedible, mostly fat with hardly any actual meat, and it was served with a side of some awful fennel "sludge" slaw - utterly disappointing.

By the end of the meal when we still hadn't seen a single member of the wait staff we left our table full of used plates and went to get our bill.

After lunch we did wine tasting and it was fab. The room was airconditioned and the lovely Gabrielle was a total delight - pleasant, attentive and very knowledgeable.

The restaurant is a really lovely space and as mentioned i really wanted to love it, but their wait staff really let...

Was here in a group booking was expecting a lot more The shared menu was way too small in portions size and took a long time to be served each course I dunno if this is so people drink more wine or not Service was okay but I was expecting better Bread rolls missing for people and it was like trying to get bloood out of a stone when we asked for more for those that missed out and it felt like we were being accused of stealing bread rolls With a booking of 20 or more people it shouldn’t be such a challenge to get a bread roll for all Didn’t appreciate waitresses constantly knocking chair / bag off and also handing us plates and cutlery to put down ourselves Main course was a couple of bits of rump cap and one small portion of fish (bite size and bland) served with some lettuce (bland not much dressing if any and very awkward to eat and unenjoyable) and some potato’s (one small bowl per 4-5 people) very underwhelming but the chef selection of side is very very poor (and small) Staying here on a business conference with no access to any other food whilst people are drinking the food needed to be more generous also for what I can imagine for the price But disappointed and currently starving some of the food was delicious such as the one croquette we were able to have but some was...
