Anyone for the Theatre? :D
Husband and I attended a much anticipated Geelong reunion event - the G.S.O.D.A. Juniors Jubilee. From the nicely lit grand entrance, with gorgeously suited gents theatrically opening the double doors with smiles and lovely greetings, the glamour continued. Tables were well spaced and set to perfection, with care to high quality linens and tableware. The G.S.O.D.A. organisers had obviously put in a lot of work with decoration, but in terms of the overall room set up, it did look a bit like the Geelong Tony Awards by collaborated theme. It was lovely to walk in and see the impressively set room. Quite glamorous. More sequins than I've seen in real life ever, well at least since the 1980s. ;) Dopey Husb and Dopey me (prepaid event) only brought cash and found we couldn't order drinks (non cash venue) and the Manager suggested a solution that worked. She was around every table adjusting checking, I noticed her at Waiters Station instructing staff. Eddie Everywhere in a really cool way. This lady is a Master. I would trust any event with her. Having worked hospitality; and sitting at a table at an event for hours, you tend to notice things. Brides-to-be, take heed. I didn't catch her name but if you have your wedding event under her care, you wouldn't have to worry about anything other than getting married and enjoying your day. She is meticulous. Not sure how many people at our Reunion but 100+? Everyone I spoke to was happy. :) On to the food, it was very good. Again, the Manager was whip smart in seeing every table was plated within the minute. Saw her correlling staff. Staff by the way were well trained, polite and unobtrusive. Great team. Husb had lamb neck, which he raved on a BIT too much about, lol (I cook that for him at home) and I had chicken, which was presented nicely. The plates looked very pretty as well. The whole night was a delightful experience.
I remember this as The Pettavel. It has a grand history and was always a jewel of the Geelong region. $45 degustation menu on Sundays? Loooking over the vines. Ahhh, those were the days.
These days it's Jazz hands for Mt Duneed! For a hard to impress crowd, you knocked our socks...
Read moreWe went for wine tasting on 25th September 2018. My arrival was a bit late, 40 minutes before their closing time (5pm). The building looked amazing and inside was very nice and clean.
There was a lady at the cash register and she was on a phone, there was no one else. I waited for her to finish her call for about 5 minutes. When she finished talking, she did not seem like she was not going to serve me, so I walked up to her and asked if I can try some of their wine and beer for tasting. She showed a sense of hesitation on her face and said they were closing in 30 minutes, but she could still do wine tasting for $5 per head. I asked for wine tasting for one person and she asked me which wine I wanted to try without giving me any information about their wine range. I asked for several wine for tasting and my wife had only one small sip for tasting from my grass (because she was driving, so she did not ask for her glass for tasting). I was interested in their beer and cider, but the lady said "they are not available for tasting today". Throughout the tasting, she did not explain anything about their wine and even when I asked her some questions, her response was very rude. Some of their wine were ok, but it was just her attitude made us uncomfortable and unprofessional, so we did not buy anything. When I asked to pay for the tasting, she charged us $10 JUST BECAUSE MY WIFE HAD ONE SMALL SIP.
The place looks very nice, but the experience we had was bad enough, so we would never go...
Read moreWe want to extend our thanks to the amazing team at Mount Duneed Estate for giving us the absolute pleasure of hosting our wedding at this magical venue.
From our first visit when we met Christine, we just knew Mount Duneed vibed with us and was the perfect choice! From the vineyard and olive grove, to the elegant Barrel Hall, we knew our special day was going to be phenomenal!
A huge part of what made our day so seamless and special was our incredible wedding coordinator, Emma. From the very beginning, Emma was attentive, warm and genuinely invested in making sure every moment was perfect. Emma (and the whole team at Mount Dunned) throughout the whole process were so accommodating and full of ideas to make the day perfect On the day itself, the whole team was incredible - extremely organised and had everything running like clockwork – we didn’t have to worry about a single thing.
Stepping into the venue and seeing everything set up, made both of our hearts melt. The ambiance was warm, romantic, and effortlessly beautiful – even better than what we could have dreamed of!
Our guests are still raving about the food, the atmosphere, and the service. We couldn’t imagine a more perfect place or team to help us celebrate our big day!
If you're considering Mount Duneed Estate for your wedding – do it. And if you're lucky enough to work with Emma, you’re in the very best hands.
