UPDATED - Our experience recently. We gave them another go, maybe it was just for the "fathers day" and it was just a "fluke" that we had a terrible experience, maybe they were terribly understaffed and overwhelmed with the volume of people on that day. I was pleasantly surprised that our bad experience was turned into an excellent, fabulous and memorable one when we decided to have our wedding reception @ Mr Grubbs. A VERY BIG THANK YOU to Emma, who was very supportive and easy to deal with. She made our special day easy, smooth and no fuss. She made sure that everything is in order and sorted out. The food was absolutely fantastic, the place was gorgeous and most importantly me, my wife and my guests loved it.

I did not ask for it to be recooked bec I know it will take a long time again to get my meal. Waiting time: 2 hrs overall to serve a set 3 course meal and Im not exaggerating. I arrived at 12 noon and have to wait approximately 45 minutes for each dish which was pre-ordered at start. I got out 2:15 pm from the restaurant. I eat pretty fast since Im a bloke. I waited bored for my next meal to arrive. Service: I asked the staff for a heater 3x since it was chilly and never got any, if your heater is broken, you could have given your alternative service blanket which I asked your staff a couple of times, they hear it and ignored. Price: If you demand all your customer on special occasion days to order a set meal of $49 each person, which I dont mind paying even if its expensive, I do expect a good service. We ordered the Vegetarian Tasty Board for 4 people, but was served the Mr Grubb Tasty Board, which is not vegetarian at all. When we informed the waitress of the error, she advised that she must have "misheard" and that she will arrange for the correct board. A rookie error, given that the waitress neglected to repeat our order back to us before informing the kitchen
Shortly thereafter, the manager came with the same Mr Grubb Board and asked whether we really ordered the Vegetarian Board. After receiving our response and a very awkward moment, she advised that she will bring the Vegetarian Board.
When our main meals arrived, we had no cutlery and requested same from the waiter that served the meals. He did not return and we had to request cutlery from another waitress.
The seafood linguine was delicious, however, my wife ordered the pizza special which was really underwhelming. The pizza was so greasy and oily that she left half of her meal and just had some of the toppings - bitterly disappointing.
A very disappointing experiencing after we anticipated so much from the meal and the experience. At over $60 per person, including drinks, one expects a much higher standard, but alas not...
Read moreWe attended a Father's day set menu with our 3 kids. The venue itself is stunning and outside is very accomodating the kids. The staff were really friendly but unfortunately we were forgotten about often. Our entrees weren't cleared for around 45 min, adult mains arrived before the children's meals, we weren't offered a second round of drinks (or 3rd, 4th etc had we been attended to) and the kids desserts were forgotten about. My husbands steak was incredibly underdone (still blue), he orders medium rare, which only fuelled our suspicions they had forgotten our orders entirely and didn't allow the cook time of the steak. We waited 50 min for mains despite a set menu. We were seated outside, right by the kitchen door so we had staff constantly walk right by us and not attend to our table. We also witnessed a staff member talking poorly about a fussy table with no real attempt to conceal her voice or topic of conversation with 3 other staff members. She wasn't wrong, they were being fussy but it was just another unprofessional moment.
