We eat there often because the owners are so friendly and will always go out of their way to make sure our food is how we like it. Being vegan, often we can't find a good pub meal experience, especially in regional Victoria. But I can vouch for our non-vegan family and friends and say their experience has been just as nice as ours! I was there recently enjoying some St Patrick's day festivities. It was such an easy friendly atmosphere with local musicians getting together with fiddles, guitars, Irish drums, tin whistles, flutes, home spun drums and a gorgeous harp. An old man sitting in a wheelchair playing the Irish fiddle must have been at least 90. The Guinness was flowing, families and friends getting together from all around the region and further afield. I met some people who just out for a Sunday drive from Melbournes' Eastern suburbs. It doesn't matter whether you are a local or fly-in, everyone is welcomed well at the Pig & Whistle Hotel. Did I tell you the owners...
ย ย ย Read moreDuring a leisurely drive through the area yesterday, we stumbled upon a hidden gem: the Pig n Whistle Hotel in Trentham. From the moment we approached, its charming exterior beckoned us inside. Stepping through the door, we were warmly welcomed by Maddie, whose genuine hospitality instantly made us feel like cherished regulars rather than newcomers. In any establishment, exceptional customer service can make all the difference, and Maddie exemplified this with her attentive and friendly demeanour. Upon learning that we had recently moved to Daylesford, she eagerly shared invaluable local tips and recommendations, enriching our experience beyond our brief stop for a drink. Although our visit was short, the combination of the cozy ambiance and Maddie's welcoming nature left a lasting impression. It's clear that she is a true asset to the Pig n Whistle team. We left already looking forward to returning, eager to explore more of what this charming spot...

Accompanied by my lovely, we crossed the threshold and were greeted by enthusiastic and welcoming staff. The comforting sight, sound and smell of no less than three open fires are glorious on a chilly winter's day. The menu is a fine selection of classic pub fare and the fact that you can order a longneck of Melbourne Bitter at the bar is just brilliant.
The chicken parmigiana and the fish and chips were both delicious - chips lightly seasoned a subtle but welcome touch. If I was to make one suggestion for improvement, the side salad would be it. A slightly odd mix that is not quite sure what it wants to be.
Service was as it should be: efficient, warm, and unobtrusively attentive. A visit here is highly...
